The story of the New Orleans Saints last year is one that will be remembered for all time for the fantastic season and Super Bowl championship. Once known as the "lovable losers," they were now the champions of the world and on top of the NFL. They overcame adversity and proved to everyone that they were no longer a joke.

The trek to a championship is one that was long and arduous. But for some, the journey was even longer than others.

Anthony Hargrove is a defensive tackle for the Saints that has overcome more adversity in his first 27 years on this earth than some have dealt with in their entire lifetime. Hargrove may have had a tremendous season last year with the Saints en route to getting his Super Bowl ring, but he had to make it past a lot to just get back on the field again.

At the age of nine, he had already lost both of his parents. His father died in a fire and his mother passed away due to AIDS. Later on in life, he flunked out of college even after gaining attention by those in the NFL who realized the immense talent this young man had.

In the 2004 draft, the St. Louis Rams selected him in the third round and he spent two decent seasons there before being traded to the Buffalo Bills in 2006. He had two sub-par seasons there and also served a four-game suspension in 2007 for breaking the league's substance abuse policy. In January of 2008, Hargrove had failed another drug test but this time he was given a one-year suspension from the league.

He was reinstated in February 2009 and signed by the Saints in May of that year. Hargrove was determined to get his life back in order and make things right again for the game he loved to play. Anthony has since flourished in New Orleans and realized what it is to stay on the right path and do the things in life that mean the most to him.

Even though none of his actions or issues with drugs are justified or can they be condoned, but he has gotten past a lot and rid himself of many demons. Witness his long and torturous journey to the top of his game and top of the world.

Just finished watching it. A real eye opener into his life. Great production. Not because it was Hargrove, but it is the best thing I have seen from NFLN. I am glad he got his third chance to prove himself.

We all screw up in life. I know I have had more than 100 strike outs in life. Thank God I was always given another chance to prove myself. Great story and I hope you all can see it. (Hargroves story, not mine)
