Brees looked good, accurate as usual but the drops!! ah it killed me i was going insane. It really hurt us on 3rd down, meachem and colston? dropping balls? i could not believe it and i know thomas went in and did great but bush looked good, really good. Why didnt we keep him in?

Henderson to had a drop that just killed me. It is still early in the season due to have some oh crap moments on offense its typical for NFL but we usually come out the gate on O hitting on all pistons but we usually also have a week opponet.

No worries with the offense, Brees seemed disappointed in the post game interview, they'll get things straightened out soon enough. I'm just glad that we didn't have to rely on the offense making a comeback like most times last year. Defense really stepped up and held their own.

A good 10 days to prep for the Fortywhiners. They'll get it taken care of.

Thats a real benefit for us playing a thursday night game and then a monday night game. Boys should be rested and ready to take care of business. 49ers will be a formidable opponent IMHO. Smith is improving, they finally got WRs and Davis is a beast pure and simple. They got guys who can run the ball and a physical defence.

The drops are uncharacteristic. If we hadn't dropped 6 balls against the Vikes we'd have won by 3 scores.

If we play our A-game against the 49ers, we'll destroy 'em. It will take another sloppy game by us and a 49ers A-game for them to win.

Most of the drops were caused by the Vikings.

The encouraging thing was the defense. We already know that we're usually going to put up 400 yards total offense, but the defense held one of the best offenses to 9 points and 0 in the second half.

Folks, we're starting to get a defense. That's encouraging. Who would have ever thought that the Saints win with just 14 points?

Our defense is built on the DL, decent LBs and an outstanding secondary. Once we have the lead, you are not going to pass the ball on us. Our defense is designed to stop the pass first.

In any case, I liked what I say. I'm not worried about the offense.
GW is getting the defense to play like a top 10 defense.

That's the road to a Two-Dat!

This team was a little nervous and a little rusty. When they start clicking, they are going to be awesome. Along with all the drops, I saw Drew miss a wide open receiver with a couple of steps on the defender. That was probably the most amazing mistake of the night, for me, because Drew is usually deadly accurate in that situation.

DRsaints 09-11-2010 09:58 AM

Yeah, I think it was a little rust on the first game. We also missed some opportunities as well. I would definitely expect our offense to play much better in the future. The 10 days to prepare for the 49ers definitely helps too.

3rd and 11 is a drive killer for anyone other than the Saints and their potent offense.

I like the fact that we face two top notch defenses like Minny and San Fran early. This will test our offense, force Payton and the players to execute a very effecient and effective game plan to make scores. It will pay dividends as we start to face less dominating defenses.

Although San Fran has come a long way back to respectability (kinda threw up a bit saying that), their offense still is a big question and I don't think they are any better than Minnesota in that area. In fact they are much like Minny. Solid o-line, decent run game, dangerous TE and questions at WR and QB all kept in games by a tough defense. Once again we match up well against this.

If our defense plays the same we win this one with or without the offense catching fire. If we get on a roll offensively then San Fran doesn't have the ability to shoot with us.

Yea, i agree we have plenty of time, but im just use to our 40 point offense from last year :)

Tdennis91 09-11-2010 12:42 PM

Oh and Jenkins!!!!!!!!! He really stepped up, i was so happy with that he is going to be a beast in a few years.

DRsaints 09-11-2010 12:44 PM

Yeah, we're usually good about not dropping many balls. I guess you can attribute some of it to rust and opening night. Hopefully we don't see that sort of stuff for the rest of the season.

Breesus completed over 75% of his passes ... the drops were ominous, of course. Imagine his completion rate if they actually catch those drops.
