Peter King thinks the crowd at Thursday's game was too quiet

What is he thinking?

3. The Vikings figured a way to get the crowd out of the game. I was on the field at different points of the game with my NBC duties, and what amazed me was how quiet it was. "They did a great job neutralizing the crowd,'' was the refrain in the Saints' locker room. It wasn't just the Vikings, either -- that crowd was different last night. It wasn't as nutty as the Saturday-night Dallas crowd last December, or the NFC title crowd last January. Maybe it was the boringness of the game, or the fact that so many fans might be satisfied after such an electric season and the first world title in club history. But it wasn't the kind of atmosphere that lends itself to the kind of home-field edge the Saints have used so effectively in the Payton era.

DRsaints 09-12-2010 09:00 AM

WTF was he thinking? Maybe he's hard of hearing lol.

Actually, I agree with him. I was getting frustrated with most of the people in our section. They seemed content to sit and watch and wouldn't make noise when the Vikes had the ball. All in all the crowd was much quieter than the Cards' playoff game we attended last year.

This may be because of a high number of "non-regulars" in attendance. The lack of big plays probably played a part, as well.

Unless I misread, King wasn't the only one saying this. The Saints pretty much said it too.

Ah ok, fair enough. I wasn't at the game, but I asked Alex Brown about it and he said the noise was unbelievable and that it was MUCH louder than he expected. If it was quiet compared to normal, I guess he's in for a surprise.

The figured out a way to take the crowd out of the game by doing nothing. Now that might work when you're practicing but when you actually have to play another team, not so much! Peter King is a fool!

There wasn't a lot of big plays or scoring. The game was a little boring. I would not expect this to be this way the rest of the season!!!

What do you guys think?

Didn't have to be at the game to hear it wasn't as loud as it has been overall. It was loud at time but not long periods of time... obvious there were a lot of times there was no need to yell.

I noticed it to...just like the team we will be better next time...

FireVenturi 09-12-2010 11:01 AM

This was probably the most I had drank tailgating since the Atl game in 06 due to the celebration, lol. I for one wasnt my normal crazy self and was sitting more than I normally do(recovering). I will make corrections and bring it for the Atl game in a couple weeks..

Lets go!!!!

p.s. penalties, drops, and missed kicks can kill a crowds buzz!
