Keys to the MNF game

It is Wednesday morning, so there is plenty of time to think about the MNF game this Monday. Here are some keys to the game.

1.) Get the offense rolling - We will need to get a quick start, put the speedy, physical LBs on their heels. If we can get Willis to second guess himself, then we can take control.

2.) Figure out the 3-4 - The Sean Payton offense seems to always struggle with the 3-4 defense. They don't see it too often, and when they do it gives them fits. A lot of film study from past opponents should fix this.

3.) Get to Alex Smith - If any QB can be rattled, it is Alex Smith. He is already having a helluva time with his coaches, so if Greg Williams takes advantage of that by bringing on elaborate blitz packages, this could turn into Alex Smith's final game.

4.) Stop Gore - He didn't have a good week 1 performance, but he is the type of back that could give our smaller front 4 fits. He pounds the hole and when he breaks through has just enough speed to take it to the house. We will need Shanle and Dunbar to fill the gaps.

This is a game that scares me, one team coming off of a physical close win vs. a team who got out played and now have a chip on their shoulders. I am thinking this game could be closer than a lot of people think, especially if the Saints come out sluggish early on. Anything I missed?

5.) Trench warfare - 49ers OL was at the bottom of the NFL last year and their WR's are not very physical. Basically is a rookie core. Smith scares easy when he sees the line folding. I dont think we should go after Smith, hes of more use to us healthy. We need to break the SF OL up the middle or on Smiths right so he will make mistakes. Hit the WR's on the line and get physical, its easy to throw off Smiths timing. Put hands on smith but dont hurt him, we need him to win.

screen, short pass, and run down field until the Saints OL can figure out what the 49ers defensive game plan is, because they will not change it the entire game. There OC and DC play calling is vanilla and dont have the ability yet to change it. This will also give our WR/TE's some reps and time to heat up, while 49ers secondary grows cold. Then take shots at the 49ers mediocre secondary. Problem with hitting them long of the bat, is if the 49ers are going to blitz the entire game. We could end up with an injury or a turnover early.

This might work and give us a turnover early. SF only has 1 Sail, if you take it down with a pic or a drive for 7, they will most likely give up for the half, like they did against the Seahawks. Their defense is not to be underestimated tho, they can be scary good, but not the secondary.

Saints proved that pigs could fly in 2009.
Now its time for another miracle SuperBowl and go where no pig has gone before.

6.) Vernon Davis- This guy is an absolute freak. He demands double teams from whatever team he is playing. We don't have the 1 LB that can cover him with the speed he brings to the table. We will have to put a LB on him and also bring in safety help on alot of plays. Kind of like the same way Philly kept Jermichael Finely in check. If this guy gets an open look on any part of the field he can take it to the house.

Cover Davis like we did Shianco (??) in the 2nd half of last weeks game.

Yes this could be a trap game & I know that if you are a "true" professional there SHOULD never be a "trap" game. BUT all the players are only human!!

We will see the Niners best effort this week I am sure. They were embarassing last week against a weaker opponent. Even so, they do not have the talent to hang with us unless we let them. I agree, a fast start on offense and getting an early lead will do the trick. They have problems on offense right now at QB and o-line that will not be repaired by Monday to allow them to compete if we are effectively offensively.

Not to much into a fast strike. If we can beat it down field with a little west coast/vertical offense mix and take 8-10 minutes off the clock to score 7pts. I think that would go a long way to humiliating their defense and having the SF offense start off cold.

WE definitely can't look past these guys. I do feel we are a far superior team, as long as we don't beat ourselves. And I'm sure they will be looking to try and make a statement in prime time against the Superbowl champs.
