49ers give Atlanta a peek into how beat the Saints?

If 49ers didn't have the Turn-overs they won the game, so did they open Pandora's Box? are we exploited on the Defensive side?

I can also see a few weak points on the Offense, i think Drew just had a bad second game, Bush is a question mark right now and Gay is most likely out for that game..
So opinions on how well we're going to do in this short week coming into the dome with a Falcons team full of Bloated heads after kicking down an Arizona Team that was already piss poor..

Halo 09-20-2010 11:23 PM

Well, that why we play the game.

I saw the Seahawks give us a peek on how to beat the 9ers... didn't see the same team.

Same for the Falcons. The played great this week, first week they were horrible.

Let's see what happens

strato 09-20-2010 11:23 PM

they dont have that good of a D...i dont think

Saintswrath 09-20-2010 11:29 PM

I disagree Strato, I think Atlanta's D is very capable, the Arizona game didn't prove it but i think Atlanta like 9ers are finding themselves, im going to be sweating it out..
We have short week, Bush may be out, Gay may be out, 9ers gave Falcons some good game tape to use..
I'll admit im a bit nervous now.. however Atlanta did lose Turner i believe so we're kinda balanced strength wise if he doesn't play, but Arizona didn't give us anything to work with coming up to this week.

SmashMouth 09-20-2010 11:32 PM

the wind conditions were bad ... but a win is a win ... and we play at HOME ... gotta love that we're still getting those turnovers ...

We were Superbowl Champs last year and Atlanta hit hard and gave us a run for our money... another great game.

It's gonna be a knock down, drag out dog fight. Like the 49ers, the Falcons have A LOT to prove.

I'm sure they'll play their "A" game... they do that even when we're not champs.

xan 09-21-2010 02:18 AM

They have a decent d-line, and now teams know that they have to get a push against last years three best interior linemen to disrupt Brees. Our receivers are getting ZERO separation and the falcons can play press. Sit on the screen and just hang tough on all the slow developing runs. Brees will never run so just push him left and watch the play fail. Shockey's blocks look like my 9 year old niece encountering a muddy dog. No Reggie means less pressure on their 2nd level, so manning up won't be necessary. Counter plays and cutbacks will rip our d up, and we've been abused by TE's since the cowboys game.

Al in all, a team simply needs to take care of the ball and give it their B- game and victory is there for the taking.

Pete 09-21-2010 02:27 AM

WTF..We will throw for 400Yds minimum next week lol

LBCutta 09-21-2010 03:36 AM

I think the wind was a huge factor tonight. We are a DOME team. I think we play well enough again to beat the Falcons. But our offense needs to get it together. The D played well tonight but the Offense didnt give them the help they are used to. We need to clean up the offense and play better pass coverage on the Falcons.

:stupid:

NO DOUBT .... the wind was killer, and also the reason we won it in the fourth quarter. Meachem was remarkedly absent. He needs to step up.

Ok, WhoDats, its time for some Jim Mora trivia. Fill in the blanks:
W_ _ _ _ _ - C_ _ _ _ _ - S _ _ _ _ _ _

Except for the part about losing Reggie, What an outstanding time to be a Saints fan. How sweet it is to be reversed from our old role, of beating the 49ers on the field, and having Joe Montana drive em down the field for a 16-14 win.

I remember when we found creative ways to lose.
Great teams find ways to win.

This is a great team. I'll say it, and I aint scared. Does anybody remember what I said last year, and I wasnt scared?

neugey 09-21-2010 07:59 AM

It will be tough, but good to have home field advantage against those oversized birds.

their d is not as good as 49ers and it is hard to win on the road, but this will be a hard test

saintsfan1976 09-21-2010 08:21 AM

3-4 defense seems to be our nemesis.
Willis is an absolute stud leader.
They covered our WR's well and got in Brees's face.

To me this game looked more like the "finesse" Saints of a few years ago.

Great resolve to eek out a victory - that's what champions do.

I'm sure there is a "superbowl hangover", they're just finding ways to win.

Gut check time for the O and D lines.

Stiggs 09-21-2010 08:35 AM

We won a close game on the road against a team many not only picked to win the West, but to go to the SB. We didn't play well, the run defense/tackling was not good, but the D/Special Teams came through with the turnovers. Offense seemed inconsistent, like in the first game vs. 'Queens. I'm glad we're playing the Falcs at home while we're still in early-season playing shape (I know they are, too).

We saw some ugly road wins last year, right (Washington, Miami)? I honestly don't see this team going 13-0, but I know the offense will settle in and GW will produce a D that will keep us in some games. I still like our chances to get back to the BOWL.

7...3...10...15...7 These are the # of points Altanta has given up in their last 5 games. The 15 was in OT where the Steelers scored 6 points. Don't sleep on Atlanta's D.

I've said for awhile that the dirty birds were gaining talent and would be hard to count out any time soon. They are a fierce divisional opponent and always play us hard.
That being said they haven't proven anything on the field yet. They are another talented team that will have our coaches and players working extra hard evaluating film. Even though we have been less than glorious we are still finding a way to win the close games. That's is why we are still the undefeated World Champion New Orleans Saints.
We look forward to welcoming Atlanta to the Superdome. This is the game we start clicking on all cylinders.
btw I'm glad you're not one of those smack talking trolls. We love talking Saints football with other folks.

What's the news on Turner, caddieman? Have you guys heard if he will play Sunday?

He is good to go. Could have come back in last week but Coach Smith held him out in the second half. The game was over at half-time.

I was wondering, because I've got a waiver claim for Jason Snelling on my fantasy team. Wasn't sure if Turner would be getting many carries this week or not, and Snelling ripped up the field.

Keep that waiver claim because we lost Jerious Norwood for the year. Snelling will see twice as many touches now. He was third string. Now second. He will be the third down back now and he will spell Turner.

Yeah, I'm planning on keeping it. My team took a hit at RB Week 1 when Ryan Grant went out for the year. I still have Chris Johnson, but after that, my RB production drops off the map.

Here's to a good match-up this weekend. I'm sure it's going to be a slug fest.

Saint_LB 09-22-2010 05:37 AM

When we have more points on the scoreboard than the other team when the 4th quarter clock reads 0:00, that means we win.

I guess you could say that we gave the Falclowns a peek at how to lose to the on-the-road Saints by 3. I hope they took good notes!

papz 09-22-2010 12:27 PM

The 49ers did provide a solid blue print for the Falcons in containing our offense I thought. 3 key things the Falcons need to do:

-Bring 500 high powered fans to the stadium and blast them all full strength.

-Trade for Patrick Willis ASAP.

-Make sure Boyz 2 Men are on their sideline.

homerj07 09-22-2010 01:19 PM

THey always play us hard. THey are going to give it their best & we will give it our best.

I see a hard fought victory. Hopefully the "O" does show up a little more & the "D" can get a better rush.

Activate Junior!!!

Wishful thinking. Teams know that we should have been arrested and convicted by now. The defense has done its part to help us start the season 2-0. Its time for the offense to give these guys a breather and drop 40 on these clowns at home this week. Let's take the running game off the table with a 3-ball lead. That will up our chances for some easy pics when they go into come-back/catch-up mode. Easier said than done, but it can be done.

I haven't read all the responses ... yet, but the 49ers play a 3-4 as their base defense. That alignment has always given the Saints fits. Atlanta employs the 4-3 with which we have had much more success. The Falcons simply do not have the same pieces to execute the SF game plan.

On the other hand, the Falcons dismantled a decimated Arizona 3-4 defense that was not given any help from their QB-less offense. The Saints present a much different story on both sides of the line.

TheOak 09-22-2010 02:01 PM

The way I see it. You have to BEAT us to give someone insight on how to beat us.

No, not all our eggs, but that is a very real basket that has contributed to the Saints' success these past two seasons. It is hard to ignore when it continues to be a factor, week in and week out.
