Saints cut Adrian Arrington

Welcome John Carney.

The New Orleans Saints released receiver Adrian Arrington to make room for new kicker John Carney. If Adrian passes through waivers, they could bring him back on the practice squad.

The Saints also brought back offensive tackle Jermey Parnell to their practice squad Wednesday.

Freaking Hartley.

winmill1 09-29-2010 11:45 AM

I don't like this move. 2 kickers always seems to cause problems.

DblBogey 09-29-2010 11:47 AM

You have to F'ing kidding me . . . AA was the most expendable, hmmmmm I don't think so!

73Saint 09-29-2010 11:47 AM

And Carney is so old he's beginning to look like Skeletor!

"I HAVE THE POWWWEEEERRRRRRR!!!!!!"

TheOak 09-29-2010 12:03 PM

Carney! C'Moooon Man! This is what...the third time we "bring back Carney?"

It aint workin!

Favre says Sir to Carney.

saintfan 09-29-2010 12:08 PM

AA doesn't play special teams, and WR is a position of strength.

He was probably the most likely to be cut. I'd probably would have preferred to cut Humphrey instead, or maybe Torrence, but its close.

Rugby Saint II 09-29-2010 12:28 PM

He had a pretty good preseason. He may not make it through waivers.

Hadn't really thought about Special Teams - and that makes some sense. Still, was Carney (a guy I really like by the way) the best option we had? Just seems like we're swapping a young and talented WR for a temporary solution at kicker.

xan 09-29-2010 12:51 PM

With Harper and Porter out, you can't cut Torrence. AA was clearly odd man out in a rotation including Henderson, Colston, Meachem and Moore, with Roby waiting in the wings.

SapperSaint 09-29-2010 01:15 PM

I am with Xan on this. AA was the odd man out. Wish he could have been traded and get something for him....Oh well.

Whats this about Harper and Porter out?

SapperSaint 09-29-2010 01:24 PM

Tracy is listed as probable.

No word on Roman.

I agree. Arrington has taken several years to get to a place where he began to show some promise. He just happened to be in this stacked situation. His pre-season may get him picked up pretty quickly by a team that needs an immediate upgrade at the receiver position; and there are some that can use his services.

st thomas 09-29-2010 02:10 PM

com-on man. 3-years to get to cutting a guy that is better than a least 2-3 teams no# 3 wrs. he's a gone pecan. seattle signed stokely yesterday. if he would have been at least a pimple of what roby does he might have had a fighting chance. i were hopeing that he make it till next year with the 18 game season.

st thomas 09-29-2010 02:24 PM

i know somebody that want's to slap hartly now. you can bet there are a few teams looking at tape on arrington now.

st thomas 09-29-2010 02:27 PM

it could open doors for him i'm glad. i'm sure most of us will follow him and wish him luck if he gets plucked.

darstep 09-29-2010 03:35 PM

He would never be a probowler here with us: Brees spreads the ball around too much. He may fall into the right situation where he gets a lot of looks and we see him in the running for the PB 2012 and beyond.

DrewDat 09-29-2010 04:11 PM

What a waste of an Athlete!!!!

Ashley 09-29-2010 04:34 PM

This SUCKS! This wasn't the fire i was talking about.

darby 09-29-2010 04:40 PM

hmmmmmm..... AA must not have made the progress i was hoping he would have made by now. if he hasnt done it by now, he probably never will

...sigh

B_Dub_Saint 09-29-2010 06:56 PM

Damn, I liked that kid.

Budsdrinker 09-29-2010 08:33 PM

I'm betting the Vikings take a look at him if Rice isn't ready to go.

macgold 09-29-2010 08:36 PM

Maybe they took Carney because Morten Andersen couldn't pass the physical.(sarcasm)

Crusader 09-30-2010 12:20 AM

Oh well, we cut the 6th string WR, a guy who couldn't break in to the group with the fist 4 WRs and doesn't contribute on special teams. I'm not at all upset. If he goes somewhere else and becomes a superstar thats fine with me its quite obvious that would never have happened with the Saints.

you could be right cru, but you know we lost 2 starting corner's and a safety all at the same time last year. well 1 they sat really to rest his knee after we locked up postseason play. whats to say something like that happened in the WR positions, it could throw him up to spliting time with the first string, just saying

LBCutta 09-30-2010 01:32 AM

He'll be on our practice squad...He'll make it thru waivers. Watch.

If that were to happen I hope Roby could pick up the slack, he's no slouch of a player.

I hope so.. but I really doubt that is what will happen.. I wish they cut our 4th TE Humphrey instead.. he was cut before and cleared the waiver..
I hope you are right though and he end up in our PS.

ScottF 09-30-2010 06:57 AM

AA had 3 years to make himself valuable and did not. How can you be player #52 or 53 and not do anything on special teams?

as for Carney.... I am not against bringing in another kicker, but why Carney?

last point- why not cut Hartley and see if he clears.. were we really in danger of someone else signing an erratic kicker at this point in the season?

jeanpierre 10-01-2010 07:04 AM

Why didn't we move a WR for a DT or LB?!?

Arrgh!!!

It appears Arrington has cleared waivers and will most likely be signed to the Saints PS.

If Pierre Thomas can't play, all 'Betts' are on for New Orleans Saints

jeanpierre 10-01-2010 07:23 AM

Ladell Betts...Yeeeaa, Neaux

We need running backs with NFL speed...

With the set of Guards we have, need running backs with power and speed to the hole...
