Carolina Defense

What kind of schemes and basic fronts will the Saints see out of the Panties this weekend? 3-4, 4-3? Cover 2? Cover 4? Will they blitz? will they stay standard?

Seems like the best results this season have come from the Cover 4, with a 4 man rush. It doesn't appear our line has been able to establish dominance over a 4 front in any of the three games. Carolina's DBs are ok, but tough to tell considering they've played the G-men, who aren't exactly a top offense, Tampa, who is surprising but altogether non-threatening, and the Bungles, need I say more.

Carolina have forced turnovers (6!!!) but have managed to score on even fewer turnovers than the Saints (0 for 6 vs 1fg on 5)

What are we going to see???

Whatever defense we see, it won't be at the same talent level we have seen in past years. That just means that the Saints need to dictate the pace when they are on offense and not rest on their laurels. It may not be the Julius Pepper-led defense we are used to seeing, but it is still a John Fox defense. He will have some sort of game plan to try and stop the Saints. It's up to the Payton, Brees, and the Saints to execute near-flawlessly (play-calling and on-the-field play) and dominate the Panthers in all aspects of the game.

I'm more worried about the D stopping Jeff King. Apparently with the day Gonzo had we have a tough time covering TE's

Run D will be tested, but hopefully we can hold up if we can stop them on 3rd downs

And if Jermon Bushrod can adequately stop Everett Brown from getting to Brees, he should have a decent game against Carolinas' secondary.

They'll probably fall back to a cover 4 look when necessary. That's what worked for the others so far

Jimmy Clausen shouldn't be too much a problem, considering we can get some pressure and keep him uncomfortable.

This won't be the week it all clicks for Jimmy.

anything but 3-4....we really suck against 3-4

We tend to make really weak QB's look like Payton Manning.... i.e Jason Campbell

John Fox may have noticed this too.

Payton versus Fox since 2006...

2 wins, 6 losses.

I don't know why anyone would think this is gonna be easy.
