Ok fair enough sharper would have known that, only thing is, sharper has 10 years more experience than jenkins. Yes it would be great to have our hall of fame safety back there, but it is what it is, Sharper was not ready to go, Jenkins was, He's the future and hes gotta gain experience, It's a learning curve, just be grateful that Jenkins has enough wit about him and thats really the only mental mistake he has made.
He got the sack that set up the win, hes got work to do, but he'll be great.

What he said ..... jenkins is very athletic, and yes,, he can hit. But he has been burned, and double moved out of position so many times this season, its just not acceptable anymore. He isn't close, to one quarter the player sharper is. I just feel that some of us are letting our off season judgements of sharpers contractual actions, dilute honest evaluations of jenkins' performance on the field. He is NOT ready to take over at FS.

Isn't this really a moot point? Sharper was not ready to play at the beginning of the season and is on the PUP list. He's not available until after week 6.

Jenkins isn't perfect. He makes mistakes. But this is his first year at Safety. Not his 15th like Sharper.

The defense has not yet cost us a game. The offense? Yes. The kicking game? Yes. The defense has been doing an admirable job considering the injuries and the lack of production from the other aspects of the Saints game at the current time.

Time to put on the rose colored glasses. The Saints schedule has a soft middle. 4 of the next 6 games are against teams with losing records. Injured players will be coming back online. Carney has stabilized the kicking game for now. We are 3-1 playing very uninspired football. Just grinding.

Jenkins is the least of the Saints worries.

I'm just basing my judgements on a player's performance, NOT his so called potential. Many people in here were claiming jenkins was beyond ready to take over for sharper because of his financial demands, in the off season. Once again based on jenkins PERFORMANCE NOT POTENTIAL, it is clear to stevie wonder himself, that malcom isn't ready for one of, if not the most important secondary roles. Thus the NAME of the thread. Thought that would tip u off.....

You can't allow guys to run free behind you. Greer just let him go and was guarding turf. I understand zone. But, even if you're expecting help, you can't just let a guy run free.

Personally I would rather have Sharper back there right now just because he is better than MJ and is more of a playmaker. He's a good leader and makes great reads. Problem is that Sharper won't be back for a couple weeks and we need a Safety.

Do I think MJ is better? No. Is he the only real option we have? Yes.

Another year playing behind Sharper will benefit MJ, but so will the playing time MJ is getting until Sharper returns.

In fact, I'd say he was a bright spot so far. Compared to our D-line, LB's and some pretty mediocre play from our stud CBs, I'd say Jenkins is a very valuable player to this team.

Sharper had several bad games last year. He was far from perfect, and no one knows if he's lost yet another step because of his knee surgery.

He wasn't perfect but I wouldn't say any of his games were bad. Not even close. I personally thought he should have won the defensive MVP.

The guy was playing with our 4th string SS on the other side. Has to stay back and can't be aggressive. Made what appeared to be a mistake in coverage, but we do not know what the assignment was. Maybe he was supposed to jump the TE.
