Game Balls - Saints / Panthers

I went Betts for Offense.
Dude's been here about 3 or 4 total weeks and stepped in and played better than many thought he would. Payton said he made more progress this week than his entire time here earlier. He came through when we needed it.

On defense I went with Usama Young.
With Harper out, then Prioleau and Reis get knocked out, he stepped in and played better than both of them. Ellis probably should get it, but I think Young earned some love. Wasn't he playing SS? Thats not even his natural position, unless he's started taking practice snaps there this week.

On special teams, Carney.

Although I really don't like giving out game balls for merely doing what you're supposed to do. Gameball because he didn't suck?

Defense: Young.

Special Teams: Carney. A 46 year old kicker should be able to make those kind of kicks even with a broken leg- but regardless, he made them, and it made the difference in the game. "Do your duty, and nothing less," and all that.

Dishonorable Mention- Offense.

Young had his best game today. K John Carney, and Mr Betts.

Does this philosophy work only for kickers? I mean Young gets paid to make tackles right? Could on argue that he should have had an INT too because that his job?

I meant he made his gimmes.

It would be similar to a bad pass that hits Usama right between the numbers. Should he be praised for catching such an easy pass?

Carney did nothing above ordinary. He did what even mediocre kickers do, but considering what sHartley did last week, he gets my gameball.
