CARDS STARTING ROOKIE QB

1 Attachment(s)
Looks like the Cards are going with a rookie.

Whisenhunt announced after Wednesday's practice that the former BYU standout would make his first NFL start Sunday when the Cardinals are home against the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, replacing the erratic Derek Anderson.

Hall is Arizona's third starting quarterback since training camp opened. Anderson replaced Matt Leinart in the third preseason game. That led to Leinart's release and left Hall as Anderson's backup.

The strong-armed Anderson, signed by Arizona as a free agent after he was released by Cleveland, was benched after throwing two first-half interceptions in last Sunday's 41-10 loss at San Diego. Hall came on to complete 8 of 14 passes for 82 yards without an interception but was sacked six times.

Beware the home dog. That cards defense will rise up to keep that rookie QB in the game from a confidence level. We've made many unknowns look like SB MVP's, so take this guy on early and make him make decisions and plays.

sharper must be drinking heavily today

Clausen disagrees.

So does Sanchez.

SupaSaint77 10-06-2010 04:44 PM

This game will be a blow out

SupaSaint77 10-06-2010 04:45 PM

Agreed. I see this game being like last year's game against Detroit.

foreverfan 10-06-2010 05:32 PM

Do we have a secondary? Wait... we don't need one.

RaginCajun83 10-06-2010 05:34 PM

I see this game being like this year's game against the Panthers

ScottF 10-06-2010 06:08 PM

two years ago we made young QBs look great. Last year, not so much.

Velcro comes to mind. Or superglue.....

QBREES9 10-06-2010 11:58 PM

Don't look past this game.

LBCutta 10-07-2010 01:03 AM

Another tough one. Have we blown anyone out this year? What makes you all think this will be different?

|Mitch| 10-07-2010 01:10 AM

Rookie QB means they'll just try to run it down our throats for most of the game.

EXACTLY.

Saintswrath 10-07-2010 02:41 AM

We should be afraid of Rookie QB's Saints have a bad record against them, lets hope our D can step up and welcome him humbly to the NFL, we've given too many first time pro QB's their first dose of what it's like to beat a pro-team.

Beastmode 10-07-2010 09:24 AM

Rookie QB's are tough to gameplan. Hard to know their tendencies when they don't have any yet. As long as they don't let him take off and run for large chunks and force him to make bad throws Saints should be ok.

You guys can list all of the things we need to clean up in order for this to be a blow out all day long. At the end of the day if we don't play better offensive line football, we won't blow ANYONE out. Look, we just almost lost to one of the worst teams in the league because we HAD to make a play. Nowhere in the game did we pull away. I have no expectations for this game and I'm not listening to Brees or Payton about what they already know they need to fix. I can do nothing for them and talking about it doesn't help them execute. The D-Line isn't playing up to par, the linebackers aren't either. Not one aspect of our team is playing up to par to be frank. The positive, we're still winning games, which makes me believe we'll be in at least the divisional round this year. Yes, I see this as a great opportunity to get back on track offensively, but I also see this game as total offense, and zero defense. Our blitzing linebackers NEVER get through. I'm confident we'll win, which is all I care about. But I'm not making expectations. Betts should get the start also.

NOLA54 10-07-2010 11:59 AM

No matter what you think of the Cardinals they are still a professional football team. The Saints need to convert in the red zone and they will win this one.

SapperSaint 10-07-2010 12:28 PM

I feel sorry for the rookie.

Im with you on this. We need some extra training over the next 4 weeks I figure to reestablish the OL/DL to its proper potential, then everything else should fall in place.
Im expecting that Payton knows this is the critical problem, and it should be addresses 1st.
If we do not show slow improvement over the next 3 games in OL/DL, and have this nipped in the bud by the steelers games, I will be disappointed.

QBREES9 10-07-2010 11:08 PM

Did he play at BYU ???

Not even close

st thomas 10-08-2010 09:56 PM

if we can hold on to the ball, it could get ugly early. we could see a team fold by half.

Thanks Strato. I can't wait to see this game.

CheramieIII 10-09-2010 09:55 AM

Clausen almost beat us last week and Max Hall will do a little of the same. We always seem to play down to the rookie QB.

neugey 10-10-2010 08:07 AM

Time to turn Max Hall into Max Headroom

Hall performed better than Anderson and Lienart in traning camp, but wasn't quite ready to be named the starter.

They are starting their best QB against us today.

Ditto and I really don't like the gut feeling I'm getting about this game but of course that could be some bad oysters I ate! lol
