The Fumble ?

If the Brooks fumble was a fumble and not an incompletion why did the ball travel 7 yards foward rather than fall behind him? Seems to me the momentum of his arm going foward would cause the ball to travel foward.

I thought the same thing at the time it happened. Or at the very least, if his arm wasn\'t moving forward the ball would have gone straight down, not forward.Or maybe even behind him, if it were a fumble. One other thing, in the first quarter, how do you not call a safety on Jake when he throws a pass from the end zone with Saints hanging all over him and his back to the line of scrimmage? That\'s not throwning the ball away?

Is this the air pass ???

If it is , the ball came out behind Brooks and hit the nose of the ball came forward and was bobbled by people trying to pick it up til it was finally fallen on 7 yards later on the Panthers side of the line of scrimmage .

Ah true, but if you look at it, the ball when it left his hand , before it hit anything, was moving forward. Gravity won\'t let something fall in one direction or another with out motion.

Bad Call.
The ball came forward and landed 5 feet in front of Brooks before any palyer on either side touched it.
I should have been an easy call. And that ref doing that game is one of the better ones I\'ve seen.

You must realize Joesam, that in 08\'s world (similar to elmo\'s) the laws of gravity are meaningless. The only thing that matters to 08 is Jake Delhomme, good call, bad call, or non-call, as long as Delhomme wins, 08 couldn\'t be happier.

I think it was Brooks lack of leadership vacuum caused by the mere presence of Jake Delhomme\'s greatness that actually pulled the ball up and over Brooks head and towards the line of scrimmage.

Do not worry Saintsfan , Delhomme is not in the photo with Brooks ;)

Ya know 08, my suspicious have been confirmed. You really ARE a closet Panther fan. Your love for Delhomme has gone too far. Sooner or later Jake\'s wife is gonna find out, and THEN there will be trouble for you!

Nice shot in there too our their receiver commiting offensive pass interference on the play that OUR guy got flagged for it too. They\'ve got some nerve postin\' that one. I betcha 08 is using it as wallpaper!

BEAT swings into action.

BEAT maintains that anyone other than Phil Luckett would see PLAIN AS DAY that it was an incomplete forward pass.
Even if the officials did not conclusively see the incompletion and with any other qb in the league might have thought it was a fumble; everyone must come back to BEAT corollary #3 BROOKS DOES NOT FUMBLE.

BEAT maintains that Brooks, bringer of our first ever playoff victory does not fumble.
