The two worst things about that game were the officiating and the Saints Defense. I can understand Vick getting some yards, no team has been able to fully contain him all year. But Dunn, give me a break. There is no reason he should have gotten the yards he got.

And the officiating was horrible. I certainly hope Haz sends a strongly worded letter to the league. Or maybe it's about time someone pipes up and takes the fine for publicly criticizing them. They truly sucked today.

I agree 100%...If it wasn\'t for the bad calls by the officials then the game would have been over when deuce broke free for the touch down run. 3 weeks and redemtion isl be ours. Cajun by birth, Saints Fan by the grace of God.

Say what you will. Our defense will not be able to contend until we get a cover corner to play oppisite Fred Thomas. The officiating was poor but it\'s the poor play of Aaron (my man) Brooks. Brooks gave away two interceptions that cost us big time. Yes, he brought the team back and played well in the end, but the mistakes kept Atlanta in the game. We\'ll get em next time if Brooks plays better.

Good week for a bye.

The Saints got the bottom of the barrel today on the league officials . That was absolutely pathetic .

Here is what is bothering me about the defense so far . The middle linebacker position , this seems to be a real weakness in New Orleans , now the problem is I cannot isolate for sure whether it is lack of skill or the defensive scheme that has the middle linebacker out of position . That might be the number 1 draft pick for next year because the middle is becoming a real soft spot .

I don\'t like to make excuses for a loss, but the officials today were a total joke. Say what you want about the Saints lack of defense, but they always seem to find a way to win. And they would have again today if the officials weren\'t Falcons fans.

The Middle LB is looking rather weak. Maybe an early pick but what about the CB\'s we are hurting against the pass. Ken Irvin was totally exploited. Our defense has got to pisk it up. when did we get so awful on Defense.

Irvin plays a bit soft on the coverage and so does Hawthorne, if Tag . would pull the head out and cut Dale free alot of problems might disappear in the secondary .Then again with the corners and the safeties having to guard receivers and play safety net for escaped runningbacks , no wonder they play off .

There were two plays in my mind that the officials blew it on: 1. The holding call that brought Deuce\'s TD back and 2. The \"hands to the face\" of Vick that gave them a crucial first down (I think it was in the 3rd Qtr?)

And you are right Saintz08, Tag is being unreasonable with the Carter situation. The last I heard was talk that he might relent after game six. Has there been any other information out there?

No doubt about it the officiating was not good. Looked to me like Bently laid his man out. How can you hold and why would you hold when your man is flat on his back? The call against Darren was just about as bad. They could have called anything other than that. That was pathetic. It also seems to me like when Norman or Grady go out of the game our defense falls short. We do need help at middle linebacker, Charlie does a great job on pass rushing but he gets caught out there far to often. I really think Cox would be better inside than what we have right now. At least he has a mean streak. The man will hit you! As far as Vick? Wow you can\'t stop him you can only hope to contain him. However you can\'t give up the middle to do this as was done today.
Last Word i heard on Carter was this past week and it was only an opinion. John Clayton of ESPN said tag either let him play or tell the Saints he\'ll not get to play this year. I agree with him. Tell us something so we can do something else.
If you had asked me at the first of the year if the Saints would be 6-2, i\'d have told you you were crazy. We do need to change some things but this team is far ahead of where i thought they would be. GO SAINTS! :casstet:

Vick is a threat , that is obvious and to contain him I would guess a defense would have to change a scheme a bit . The ends would have to contain rather than take a chance on over pursuit and the tackles would push up and keep their eyes open . The Saints had a spy on Vick and most of the time it was a linebacker , the problem was with a quick juke that spy was on the ground .

It seemed that the best way to get Vick would have been to have the ends contain and shoot a linebacker up the middle to flush Vick out . The Snack Attack is doing a great job in my mind , they are just not getting any help from the linebackers .

This Carter thing is really starting to piss me off .The league office is handling this in a pathetic manner , then again after watching those league hired officials it might stand to reason .

Where ya at Saintz08? Me and you both are getting pissed at the league. Tag needs to let it be known. I almost got excited last week when Art shell was brought in by the league to handle on-field disciplinary actions. Until I realized Carter\'s deal was off field. Off field and off season, and a couple of beers to boot. The officiating is something I never like to complain about. True enough it was terrible Sunday. The holding call on Bentley was especially poor. If you look at the play you can see that Deuce makes moves at the point of contact which leaves defensive linemen and linebackers on their butts. I think the official glanced back saw the guy down with Bently laid out on top of him and assumed that something happened. That is terrible officiating. But I would like to see less mistakes on our part in a game like that. We left the door open for those guys with mistakes. As far as the CB situation. Irving did not play as well as he had before Sunday. He seemed a little shook. Fred Thomas I though played a decent game. Keyou is still a ways off and missing playing time has not helped him. If the league lets Carter play the whole defense will improve. As far as the linebackers, it is puzzling but I mentioned earlier this season I didn\'t think Clemons was playing up to the level he has been expected to play. Injuries may be playing a part or maybe it is the scheme. Another thing that may be hurting our defense is the speed at which the offense moves the ball down the field. This quick strike offense keeps the defense on the field to long. But all things considered the defense has got to make plays.
