The worst run defense

I would have to change that to worst tackling defense. Many times we were in position to make tackles and Davis broke them. We had that guy in the backfield quite a few times that got turned into decent gains. That and we can\'t shed a block.

We could have shown this weeks performance on last years highlight tape.

True that. There were several plays that I thought to myself, \"The way Grady has been playing this year, I bet he could have pulled Davis down with him, after he got run over.\" That was a shot at KSmith, you get no love from me this week.

I agree 100%. It was what I was *****ing about more than anything else last week. The fact that our linebackers, who aren\'t that good overall by NFL standards, have 2 interceptions to our secondary\'s 1. We\'ve played 8 games, and all we have is one interception by our secondary??? This is pathetic.

I\'ll tell ya Gator, we don\'t stop ANYBODY. Either the other team makes a mistake that costs them a drive or they score...it\'s that simple. We can\'t stop ANYBODY. If we don\'t score like we did against Atlanta we don\'t have a very good chance to win. I really beleive that.

It brings a famous quote to mind. Except I\'ll improvise a little --

Q -- Jim, how do you feel about your defense stopping your opponent this Sunday?

A -- I\'m all for it.

Yeah - the stats (and Billy ) will tell you that this defense is better this season then it was last year. I disagree whole heartedly. We\'re just as bad. The difference is that our offense has turned to mushy turd. If the Saints can only score 16-21 points on you, you run the ball. Take your time, wear out the defense, control the clock, and keep the weapons on the sideline. Last year, we scored, and scored often. That forced other teams to play wide open - which translates into more yards as teams try to play catch up. Ths year, teams are content to control the clock and run it down our throats. I guarantee that teams could be putting up 400 yards on us every week is they came out slinging it. They just choose not to.

This brings me to an interesting question. Why should we keep Haslett next season? After 3 years when he didn\'t have \"his players\", when he had to deal with \"locker room cancers\", injuries to key players, fatigue from a poor practice facility, and everything else under the sun EXCEPT for his own inability to get the job done, he finally has EVERYTHING he could ask for. He\'s got nothing but his players, his coaches, four years with these guys (so they should know the systems - oops, no, they change every year, so...), etc. etc. etc.

In preseason, we were all talking about how this was a NO EXCUSE year, but already people seem willing to give him a pass b/c of injuries. Well I\'m not. Let\'s consider, the defense is a few spots better than last season at best. The offense and special teams are both worse. There is virtually no chance that this team will finish with a better record than last year. So when Jim finally gets everything his way, the team gets worse. And don\'t give me injuries b/c everyone deals with them. So you tell me - WHY SHOULD WE LET JIM HASLETT STAY?
