NFL Officials

I am NOT blaming them for any losses. Lets get past that.

However.

WTF is going on with them? I have seen a lot of bad calls in my life but Complete utter confusion?

Sunday against the Browns:
1st. Possession play not reviewable. Ok No biggie give Sean back the red flag lets move on.

2nd. Browns elect to review a play.... Start reviewing process... Possession play not reviewable... Come back from commercial. We are reviewing the play.
WTF dude... make up our minds.

3. Sharpers hand brushes a helmet while he is going for the ball. Penalty! WTF?

Where did they find these guys? 1 and 2 irked me all dam game.

Let's discuss officiating league-wide instead. On the whole they make some pretty impressive calls - it's only when "judgement" is entered into the equation that we see so much disagreement.

Everyone has different views so we won't all agree, but can we please eliminate humans from forcing referees to use their own judgement to decide things like "intent".

I swear, it's getting more like government in the NFL every damn day.

I agree, what takes so long? I thought I was watching Court TV.

Those were the only calls I day yesterday. I agree it is league wide. How in the hell do they not know what is or isnt a reviewable play?

To Strato: The first line in my unedited OP addresses your reply.

To be a referee is a thankless job. If you do it right no one notices that you've done you're job well. Make one mistake and there is hell to pay. The referees didn't cause us to lose the game.(although the TD would have been good to keep) btw there could have been a holding call called on every snap of the ball and the interference down field as well.

The officiating in college and in the pros is just horrible. The replay system in both games has digressed as well. Both games protect the refs decision on the field more than they actually get the call right. In the beginnig, I thought the college guys got it right more than wrong. That's not the case anymore. One of my peeves is the clock. Watch it in regards to the home teams vs. the visitors in drive situations where time is a factor in college. When the home team makes a first down, going to the ground or out of bounds, the clock stops usually after one second but sometimes immediately. When the visitor has the ball, I've seen up to four seconds regularily run off. Horrible.

There was a complaint about the Raiders doing this, in one or two of their home games in preseason. I don't honestly follow the Raiders enough to know or care whether it's still happening, or what the result of the complaints were, whether the story went anywhere...but I remember reading a few mentions of this, that the clock was stopping erratically and that the refs did not seem to be as vigilant about the time when the visitors had the ball. I'm not sure what ultimately happened with that, but it sure does sound like the Raiders and Al Davis to me, though!
