Tracy Porter back to work with New Orleans Saints

The injury report remained long and disconcerting for the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday, but within it were definite glimmers of hope.

Perhaps most important, cornerback Tracy Porter, who is recovering from a meniscus he had surgically fixed after the Carolina game in Week 4, participated fully at practice Wednesday, according to Coach Sean Payton.

And the starter at the cornerback spot, Jabari Greer, was also once again on the field and wearing pads, although Payton listed his participation as limited.

The Saints have gotten by with a patchwork secondary by moving versatile Malcolm Jenkins from safety to cornerback, starting first-round draft pick Patrick Robinson and getting a career-best game from Leigh Torrence, but no one in the organization denies they are a superior team with Porter and Greer in the lineup.

"He did well," Payton said of Porter's full-go. "And Jabari, both did well. So that was encouraging."

Porter back for the second half of the season would be HUGE. Greer back in the next two weeks, and we have everything in place for a great end of the season run. I'm sorry I already asked this before, but anyone know if Robinson is ok? He left the game on Sunday with an injury.

Off of Rotoworld.com this morning....

Saints CB Patrick Robinson said the ankle injury he suffered in Week 8 is minor.

It can't be that minor, as Robinson was injured early in the game and didn't return. Nevertheless, it sounds like he'll be ready to suit up for Week 9.

We gunna have the old crew back together soon, Porter, Greer and our ball hawk Sharper!! I love what pat Robinson brings to the table aswell, he is a natural corner and his burst of speed is great for our D!!!

A little update on Robinson...

Although CB Patrick Robinson deemed his ankle injury minor in nature, the New Orleans Times-Picayune calls it a "high ankle sprain."

The rookie won't play this week at Carolina, but the Saints expect to have starters Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter back in action. The team has newfound depth with Leigh Torrance and Malcolm Jenkins playing well at corner.

I really like Jenkins, he is an animal out there.

its not uncommon anymore to the saints that the 3-4 players that are all injured are the ones that give there body's up for wins. i'd like to nick name porter gumby, he wraps his body around the ball carrier. and call pt rooter with his twisting drilling moves, for starters. they all have there styles.

I'd have to say... Jenkins looks like a completely different player from last year. He's just getting better and better... can't wait until he taps his full potential here.

Agreed, I was especially impressed with his coverage on the comeback route when he batted the ball down, he looked real sharp out there, I think it will be wise to mix him in packages like we have been doing recently, I believe that Robinson will be the better corner but as you said, Jenkins looks miles ahead of what he was last year, especially from a versatility stand point, switching back to CB when needed, and looking like a real good player out there.
