The Saints raised their season record to 6-3 Sunday with a dominating 34-3 victory over the Carolina Panthers, sweeping the Panthers in a single season for the first time since 2001.

New Orleans is now in second place in the NFC South, a half-game behind the division leading Falcons. The Saints have two weeks off before they host the Seattle Seahawks on November 21 at 3:05pm.

Drew Brees threw touchdown passes to Jeremy Shockey and Jimmy Graham and the Saints scored their first defensive pick-six of the year when Jabari Greer intercepted a Jimmy Clausen pass and returned it 24 yards to the end zone.

Ladell Betts ran for a touchdown and Garrett Hartley hit two field goals, a 31-yarder and and the other from 36-yards out.

Brees completed 27 of 43 passes for 253 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

The Saints finished with 165 yards rushing. 54 of those yards came on a game-opening run by Julius Jones.

Shockey suffered an apparent rib injury as he took a shot on on his touchdown reception. He left the field for x-rays but returned to the sidelines before the end of the game. Darren Sharper who forced a fumble he went on to recover, reportedly suffered a hamstring injury in the game while running back Chris Ivory was sidelined by a shoulder injury.

The Saints defense got four sacks in the contest from Jeff Charleston, Sedrick Ellis, Roman Harper and Leigh Torrence.

The Saints held the Panthers to 195 net yards including 68 passing yards by three quarterbacks.
