Payton isn't going anywhere.........Read his book and it will give you some insight into how he thinks. He has it good here. Loomis and (Rita) Benson have given him complete control from the cooking staff up. That wouldn't happen in Dallas.......well, Parcells and Jimmy Johnson were good but had total control. Jerry Jones will try to get him to go to Dallas but Jerry Jones is the problem with the Cowbys. Does anybody remember Payton drinking Jones' bottle of champagne?
Maybe Al Davis and Jerry Jones should merge their teams.

Everyone knows Jerry Jones is the problem. Jimmy Johnson told the world that, he had all he could take. We had the same problem prior to Benson buying the team. You hire football people and go sit in your owners box and wave at the crowd. JJ can't, he has to be the "Owner Genius" behind the team. This is a great example of "What If" journalism thought Jim Henderson had more class than that. Here's one for you Jim. "What If Buddy D was still around, would he be more popular than you?"

Why would anyone take the Dallas Flunky job?

That whole organization is all hat and no cattle.

I don't think Jones could land Payton. Unless that head coach is given full control over personnel, I can't see a top notch coach going to Dallas to be Jones' puppet. Heck the next HC of the Dallas Cowboys could very well be Jerry Jones... I wouldn't put it past him.

I don't know why Payton would go to Dallas and, since Williams isn't a push over, I don't think Gregg will be on the Jerry Jones wish list. There's talk of John Fox ending up there. That'll be great if they want to slowly run the team into the ground over the next several years.

I read Payton's book.

It seemed from what he wrote that he and Jones had a very good relationship.

I still don't think he leaves, because Benson would have to be crazy to kill the mojo he's built up over his years here, but stranger things have happened.

Would suck if he pulled the old Willie Beaman like in Any Given Sunday. If Dallas just hangs out a year and plays for draft picks they could potentially get both Sean and Brees for free in 2012. That is what I would do if I was the Cowboys and wanted Payton.
