Who thinks Lance should start over Devery?

I think with Reggie coming back that Lance Moore should start over Devery Henderson.Lance can get open and catch the ball way better than Devery can. What do you guys think?

...or...

Reggie being back might make it easier for Devery to get open. I don't know. I'm not dissing Lance or anything close to it. We just aren't a complete team on offense without the dynamic Bush brings.

Euphoria 11-17-2010 01:42 PM

I don't think they are the same reciever. Henderson more the deep threat and Moore more the slot possesion type.

dizzle88 11-17-2010 01:47 PM

Lets see if Reggie coming back can open things up for Devery or vice versa.
The problem i have is that last year Devery showed that he can be an all round WR catching stuff all over the field no matter what depth, so i just don't buy the "he's a deep threat and thats it." Lance is productive every time hes on the field.
But as i said, if Reggie does open things up for Devery then fair do's, but Lance is way more reliable as a player.

Starting is simply a technicality in this offense. We have so many packages and substitutions that its possible that a starter gets less snaps than a "back-up".

I do think Moore has earned more snaps, and it could come at the expense of Devery

neugey 11-17-2010 02:06 PM

Who cares? This is our offense -

Personally I'd like to see Meachem start opposite Colston, but it really doesn't matter. I just think our offense would be it's most dangerous with those two on the outside, Moore in the slot, and Devery streaking downfield against dimes and safeties.

Maybe coach Payton will also see that, also throw big jimmy Graham in there aswell, too tough to stop, I wanna see us go on an absolute tear when reggie comes back!! We can be unstoppable once again!!

st thomas 11-17-2010 03:55 PM

there has to be a reason meach can't unseat devery. i'd like to see the te's more involved, seems we dominate when the te is involved are catch's td. grahm's coming along fine. thomas is all over and shockey is a game changer when he's on fire. he lites everybodys fire.

This. Nail on the head. Except for maybe Colston.

Perfectly said. We need em all for the myriad of packages we run.

MatthewT 11-17-2010 08:58 PM

How about maybe Moore should start over Colston and leave the deep threats alone? Think about it before you respond...

Ashley 11-17-2010 09:15 PM

I don't know? Good question.
However with Bush back look out!

C17-BING 11-18-2010 08:31 AM

Devery who?

SaintPauly 11-18-2010 11:58 AM

I gotta say, I am just a little bit worried with Bush coming back. I mean, the offense itself, has JUST started clicking the past few games, and I would really hate to see it start stalling again. No knocks on Bush, because I know he is a threat. Just saying.... a little worried here....

RaginCajun83 11-18-2010 12:30 PM

Of course Lance should start over Devery, Devery is a speciality weapon. He's a deep threat that might catch a regular pass every once in a while. Lance is Drew's go to guy, a good route runner and he finds a way to get open .... just hate for Sean to start forcing Reggie into the offense like in years past since it looks like it might be clicking again

My answer to the question is: "In Payton I Trust"!

RaginCajun83 11-18-2010 12:58 PM

that does sound deadly .... show me a team that can roll out that many weapons

i hear what your saying SP, payton will not let that happen. he will give bush just what the offence needs not over load him. gradually bringing him back to the motherload. i'm going nutts waiting on the pump fake bubble screen to bush just once to bring up the saftey, and pop meachum/devery loose long after that. you know what i'm saying.

Yeah, as long as the o-line keeps up their pass protection, which has gotten alot better the last few weeks, Brees' accuracy should just keep improving. Bush will draw alot of attention too, giving everyone else chances to make plays. Look for even more TE receptions on Sunday.

UK_WhoDat 11-20-2010 01:29 PM

I think that Henderson should "start" because of the long threat he brings.

But my, Moore has performed and is a greater all-round asset at this time.

it all starts with the o-line your exactly right SP

You KNOW Pete has been preaching all week about how dangerous Reggie is. He has fallen into our trap...muah hah hah haaaaaa

Crusader 11-21-2010 01:57 AM

I don't. I don't believe Moore would be as effective as he is if he was a no 1 or no 2 reciever.

Rugby Saint II 11-23-2010 10:02 AM

It's just my opinion but Devery and Meachem are interchangeable. Put Colston opposite one of them and insert Lance in the slot with Reggie in the backfield. Any multiple receiver sets should be feared if the pass protection holds up. Also with two tight ends in the game we are money. Our tight ends have talent.
