PT a No-Show at practice today

RB Pierre Thomas was not present at practice at all today. Can only assume that's a setback in his recovery since he worked lst wk.

I'll bet he goes on IR within a week

Wouldnt surprise me. We have gotten this far without him, and Ivory, if he can stay healthy seems to get better every week. Im not counting on his return, just viewing it as a bonus if he makes it back for the post season. I really think he is done for the year, and done as a Saint.

absolutely done. hate to see him go but i we have other guys ready to fill in. rb is not that elite of a position anymore. its important yes but rarely do you have 1 rb for years anymore. its a revolving door now a days. gore, jackson, peterson, etc are the exceptions.

Spot on. Thats why we have done so well finding backs like PT off the street and getting good use out of them. I say keep an up and coming rookie like Ivory on at league minimum and get a few good years out of him before he demands a big salary and goes somewhere else just to get paid to be hurt. Its a win win situation for us.

yeah. or we could, you know, not treat our players like cattle...

Its a business. I am not into tying up money we can spend elsewere on a hurt player just because we think we owe it to him because he is a good guy and was an underdog. The players know this is the way it is going into it.

And I don't know many cattle that bring in a minimum of $350,000 per year.

A prized bull with a smile on his face?

It's a given at this point that the Saints are not home free at RB. Ivory is doing well but the guy has a history of bad injuries along with Bush.
We need PT if we make the playoffs. I hope he can come around in about 7 weeks but not being at practice for whatever reason is not a good sign. That says he's got something more important to tend to which is likely his injury.

st thomas 11-23-2010 05:51 PM

we have a little savings account going with our minumum pay rbs. if we can remember how high end draft picks like a best, spiller, lyunch, and a few others were. think how ivory owns there ass. were saints baby.if pts done hes done in narlens. we love ya pt always will. and we'll always find jewels out there as long as we have drew.

CashAndFlash 11-23-2010 06:27 PM

You three are acting like we can just strike gold anytime we feel like by picking up a free agent rb off the street. Ivory looks to be the best we've had since Deuce, and he was our best ever.

That's the true business side of it.

edit: oh, and before the inevitable attack, 504 et al, point to me one instance on this board where I have said anything negative about pt. I haven't.

But Ivory's better, and thinking we just picked him at random off a renewable trash pile is delusional, at best.

MatthewT 11-23-2010 06:47 PM

I agree, PT has to be on the IR soon. It is obvious to me he is not coming back this year. At least we found out the truth about his injury. I say at this point to put him on IR, get a guy like Jamal Lewis in as insurance, and keep rolling.

OldMaid 11-24-2010 03:17 PM

From NFL Live today, PT has a high ankle sprain and will not play

.
Reggie Bush might play some.

neugey 11-24-2010 05:33 PM

Don't look now but Betts is out with a neck injury, the shuffle continues ...

CashAndFlash 11-25-2010 07:10 AM

So who do we have? Ivory and Jones? I'm fine with that, but it would be nice if Betts wasn't hurt.
