Ya gotta be kidding, this is the first?

Why haven't we fretted and paced over the Bengals? Are we that confident that this is a sure thing that no one believes that we can go on the road to a cold, damp, windy field and get challenged? We've had a hard enough time with the bottom of the league this season, it's no wonder that we're only going to get a wild card. If WE are looking past this team, what do you think the players are doing?

The Bungles will not roll over and die. They are a very good team that's just been incredibly snake bit. Their offense is a nuclear explosion waiting to happen and they know the conditions and how to play them far better than we. They may be a home dog by 7 (10 on a neutral field, 13 in the dome) but I do not buy it for a second.

Do we need the paddles, gang?

They scare the hell out of me.

The Bengals are one of the most underachieving teams in the league. They have all the necessary personnel to be a legit contender but for some strange reason(coaching?), they can't put it together. I'm not chalking this game as an automatic win by any means, but I do like our chances against their slow starting inconsistent offense. Having Greer and Porter back at full strength also makes me much more comfortable. They're going to need at least 100 yards and a touchdown from Benson if they expect to win... and I think he blows. But hey... it's the NFL and anything can happen.

SaintPauly 12-01-2010 10:27 AM

I have NOT overlooked the Bengals at all. I think this is a great team..... all except for Palmer... He will be the x-factor in this game for me. If he holds onto the ball too long, or floats some of those ducks he's known to throw, our defense is going to rip him apart.

TheOak 12-01-2010 10:46 AM

With out being present at practice..... I am almost positive the Team and Coaches are not planning for Tampa this week...

Halo 12-01-2010 11:17 AM

I think every team we have played this season has brought their "A" game against the defending Champs and we see heart attack football every week as a result.

I also think this has hardened our team and I feel confident we can handle just about anything, any team, any time. If we play poorly we can only blame ourselves. I've only seen this team out coached and outplayed, never overwhelmed by superior talent. So I feel confident we can win every week.

But yes the Bengals are an underachieving team, and any team can beat any team in the NFL any week.

We need sharper in the lineup to prey on palmer and turn him into the INT king, palmer usually throws into triple coverage we have to take advantage of their mistakes, do not overlook the bengals.

Bengals are one of those AFC teams that have given us problems over the last few years. Even if they have a terrible season, they seem to play well against the Saints. We better have our game face on come Sunday..

exile 12-01-2010 01:12 PM

If we don't score 45 against that defense then shame on us. But after watching Dallas slice through our defense I guess you can say the same about them scoring 45 against us.

Rugby Saint II 12-01-2010 01:36 PM

Once again..............we have a tendency to play down to the competition. If we want to get into the hunt we had better consider every team as a formidable opponent. We have been very inconsistent and need to play all four quarters like we are playing from behind.

RailBoss 12-01-2010 11:59 PM

St Paul is right Palmer can't read changing defensive attacks and panics. Look for trick plays from Coach Lewis copying The Browns, desperate teams do desperate things what does he have to lose.

RailBoss 12-02-2010 12:14 AM

Ohio Players now that's funny, haven't heard that name in ages.

boonedocksaint 12-02-2010 01:39 AM

um....dude...i'm a saints fan. EVERY team worries me!

niteadept 12-02-2010 07:31 AM

I have to believe that every Saints player takes every game seriously and I do believe that SP and GW do as well. As I said before, the December month this year is our hardest month with two games being played outside in very cold weather. Hope that Brees has been practicing in a storage freezer because this is the first of the December games in which we need to prove that we are NOT a one hit wonder.

spkb25 12-02-2010 07:47 AM

Bungals are tough and this is a hard game for us to win. On the road is always tough. i just hope that their depleted secondary is favorable for us

saintsfan1976 12-02-2010 07:56 AM

We play this weekend????

xan 12-02-2010 01:36 PM

mid 30's and 15mph winds. Not conducive to a productive passing game. I hope these guys practice outdoors Saturday.

leilung 12-02-2010 06:59 PM

Reasons we could lose:
#1- Weather is going to be cold and wet. Passing numbers will be way down if we can't get the run going.
#2- Bengals have beaten us the last 3 times.
#3- We SHOULD win this one in a walk...which means it will be close.

Reasons we WILL win:
#1- Saints are now on a roll to the post season and playing better ball than the first half of the season
#2- Our D vs. their O wins any day of the week.
#3- We have Drew Brees, SI Sportsman of the Year!

We win in a close one Saints 24, Bengals 17

WhoDat!656 12-02-2010 07:26 PM

Since the weather may neutralize Brees and the WRs, it is a good thing the Saints have 4 RBs they can rotate in and out and not have to rely on one like some teams and get him banged up for the playoffs!

If the run game produces, it may keep the Mighty Wizard from repeating the mistakes in the '06 NFCC game.

Welcome Whodat656. I got a soft spot for NWLA WhoDats, as I've spent some time in the woods. Keep representing!

Strato, I play Ohio Players all the time.

Bengals? This would have all the ingredients for an upset of us, if we're not in top form. The Bengals are a nuclear explosion waiting to happen, but honestly, I think we faced better receivers in Dallas. We've got to
have our jocks on straight, and be aggressive and make good decisions.

One thing I think will keep us focused is our de-facto 2 game trail of the Falcons.
