Go to the 5th paragraph and please tell me it didn't read " ...as well as on kick returns."

I wonder how long has this crap has be going on?

NFL.com news: Saints RB Thomas' status vs. Bengals will be game-time decision

MatthewT 12-03-2010 09:37 PM

I doubt he will be returning kicks, if he plays at all I would say maybe about 7-10 touches tops.

WhoDat!656 12-03-2010 09:43 PM

Maybe Payton thinks that because PT is so good following his blockers on screen passes, he could do the same on kick offs.

IMO, there is too much of a chance of injury to such an important part of the Saints offense.

If you think about it kickoff returns seem and easier way to come back than full fledged action, there may be 2 to 5 times he sees the ball and that would determine his in game status going forward. Safe, really smart move if they do it. Don't put to much to early.

PT being rusty and having return duty can hurt us the worst. Just like Reggies' return game, any turn-over on a return and the Bengals will have a very short field.

WhoDat!656 12-04-2010 02:26 AM

My thoughts exactly. Why couldn't Roby handle punts as well as KOs?

dasaints26 12-04-2010 04:53 AM

I liked in this other article toward the end what Brees said about PT. Basically he is happy to seem him healthy. He is a QBs best friend with the running game and screen plays. Also he is good with pickin up blitzes.

If you can't play on ST you cant play at all. There is no difference, don't activate a guy you can't put everywhere.

ScottF 12-04-2010 07:21 AM

PT was moved to upback after returning kicks his first years.
I agree with Crus- if you can play, you can play. KO's are slow developing, you are facing forward, you get to hit someone instead of getting hit... good first play to shake off the rust

Besides, if he is getting a jersey Sunday, he'll be taking a spot away from an ST'er

Whats the O mean on WTFO?

st thomas 12-04-2010 06:42 PM

here we go payton tactics 2

Beastmode 12-04-2010 06:56 PM

It didn't say returning kicks, it said on kickoffs. Besides, he hasn't really done returns since 08. I'd say he's way to rusty to start returning kicks and Saints can't afford any more mishaps like last week. Damn near cost them the game.

Over, as in radio-talk.

I was a 2542 Telecommunications Center man in the Marine Corps those and 2531's Radiomen were the first ones to get shot at and it does stand for OVER!

With Ivory's emergence his touches are going to go down anyway.

I expect a commitment to running Ivory between the tackles today. He played his college ball in Ohio (Tiffin) and has experience in outdoor inclement games. I think he was signed with an eye toward situations like this. Late season or post season outdoor games.

That makes good sense.:bng:

I think the KO return involvement people were talking about is he was returning kicks for the scout team in practice. I don't know that there was ever any thought of him returning kicks in a game. Of course it's a moot point today.
