Deke: Saints at Bengals game preview

This is simple. If the Saints win the turnover battle, they win this game. All the numbers the Bengals compiled this season prove that Cincy is a club that puts up a fight, but they just can't finish games.
The Bengals are 0-7 when they are trailing after three quarters, and they're 0-6 when they're "minus" in the turnover differential. With that said, things are not all doom and gloom for these Bengals. Cincinnati hung tough with just about all of their opponents this season.

The Bengals lost six games by seven points or less. And, this club opened the season 2-1 with a win over the Baltimore Ravens as one of their two victories. Since that 2-1 start, the Bengals dropped eight straight games.

"It's frustrating. We have not played our best and we have had some injuries. But we have to go out and play better these last five games and it starts with New Orleans," said Bengals offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth.

This week's game at Cincinnati is a great time for the Saints to pound the ball more. I say that because New Orleans may have to travel to some cold weather cities in the playoffs and they'll need to be able to run the ball consistently.

But, there are two big stats that stand out in this match-up that weigh heavily in the favor of the Saints. No, I'm not talking about the Saints impressive defensive numbers. These numbers I'm about to lay on you will get Black & Gold fans even more pumped about facing the Bengals.

In 2010 Cincinnati is 0-4, when their opponent passes for 250 net yards. And, the Bengals are 0-9, when their opponent scores twenty points or more. In the Saints last three games New Orleans averaged 33 points per game and 439-yards total offense with a perfect 3-0 record in November.

Cincinnati will need more than cold weather and home field to avoid the Saints offense that passes for more than 250 net yards and scores more than 20 points on a bad day. Take the Saints here and lay the seven.

The NFL isn't college. You can lose any game. Hopefully Atlanta hasn't learned this.
