He went through a short slump earlier this year. He was pure money the two years before that.
Granted we would not have beaten Dallas with any other kicker.....

We also would have not gone into overtime or lost to Atlanta if it were not his 29 yard FG miss... No? Care to guess who would be 11-2 right now if that FG were made? Guess who would be leading the NFC South?

While my opinion may be unorthodox to some.. I think the ATL game was more important than the Dal game.

You "misremember" what happened in that game. Hartley MADE a 32 yard FG with 9 seconds left to send the game to overtime. If not for him we would have lost it in regulation. It was two interceptions by Brees and a Chris Ivory fumble that cost us the game. Not Hartley.

Yes, Hartley missed one in overtime, but the defense still let Atlanta score after the miss.

That was was not Hartley's fault. Get over it people.

I was typing while Guido was posting....

If the offense had scored ANY POINTS AT ALL, from 3:03 left in the 1st period until 4 seconds remaining in the 3rd, we would not even be having this discussion about Hartley and overtime in the Falcons game, period. If you want to get all woulda-shoulda-coulda hypothetical about the Saints being 11-2, get real for a minute. The Saints offense went for ALMOST AN ENTIRE HALF without scoring any points in that game. Chris Ivory fumbled on a play that "junior high running backs make routinely," and Drew threw a really dumb interception. Let's throw them under the bus too while you're at it.

I probably wouldn't support a subpar NFL kicker, but the fact is that Hartley is not a subpar kicker. Kicks are routinely missed by kickers all across the league. It's all part of the game. Elite kickers are few and far between. They do not grow on trees.

Hartley makes a 29 yard field goal we're 11-2. He didn't so his supporters shouldn't complain when we play on the road in the playoffs.

The Falclowns will run the table. Anyone expecting help from Seattle and Carolina should keep their opinions to themselves. Amazingly the same people support that loser Hartley.
Chris Ivory doesn't fumble that ball at the 28 and we're 11-2. He didn't so his supporters shouldn't complain when we play on the road in the playoffs.

And NFL kickers miss 29 yarders. There isn't a kicker in the league that couldn't have missed that kick. That crap happens. Any number of things in that game had just as much impact on the outcome. To fixate on that one detail is overly paranoid.

Especially with your number 1 rival in the same division. No excuse for that, he should have been cut.
Well, maybe one day you can apply your brilliance whenever you become general manager of an NFL team. I'm quite sure you'll get there one day. Then you can fire all the kickers you want, because I know you have a pipeline to bevy of Morten Andersens.

Yet it fairly commonly happens.

I'm not sure I'd call 1 out of every 20 attempts common.
