INJURY/PRACTICE REPORT FOR WEDNESDAY

-- LIMITED: FS Malcolm Jenkins (ribs), MLB Jonathan Vilma, (quadriceps), TE Jeremy Shockey (groin), RB Chris Ivory (hamstring), LT Jermon Bushrod (ankle).

-- DID NOT PRACTICE: TE David Thomas (knee), KR/WR Courtney Roby (concussion), DT Remi Ayodele (ankle), DT Anthony Hargrove (knee).

Note: Injuries of note from the Ravens’ camp – TE Todd Heap (thigh) and WR Derrick Mason (ankle) did not practice.

ROBY UPDATE

Saints kick returner Courtney Roby is undergoing all the necessary testing required of a player who suffers a concussion, including outside evaluation by an independent neurologist.

He was released Monday from Ochsner Hospital after staying overnight Sunday for observation and testing.

“There’s a process that we’ve gone through before and we’re going through it again with him before he’s cleared,’’ Payton said. “An outside expert will make that determination (when Roby can return to practice).

“He has a sore neck but the injury is really his head.’’

If Roby can’t play Sunday, possible replacements at kick returner include Pierre Thomas, Robert Meachem, Devery Henderson and Julius Jones.

“Our kick return emphasis will be in tomorrow’s practice and we’ll look at a few guys to replace (Roby) if he’s not available,’’ Payton said.
