The O-Line is gonna have to step up in the playoffs

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; We got by tonight. Not trying to be a downer or anything, but if we are gonna make a long playoff run the O-Line is gonna have to play a lot better. Not sure if it was a scheme issue ...

The O-Line is gonna have to step up in the playoffs

We got by tonight. Not trying to be a downer or anything, but if we are gonna make a long playoff run the O-Line is gonna have to play a lot better. Not sure if it was a scheme issue or we were just being outplayed in that area; but they were getting to Brees to easily.

Agreed. If defenses keep getting to Brees like they did tonight, we won't have Brees in the post season.

All that meat up front and we're blocking like pansies out there. Our best blockers are our running backs... that's depressing. What happen to all that nastiness... that mauling attitude we had last year? All it takes is one big hit and our season is over. They need to get their mind right... go out there play with some swagger and punch somebody in the mouth. With all that talent there, there's no excuses why we should be struggling.

Our running backs should not be our best blockers! And Bushrod, just pissed me off. We get our defense playing like the number three ranked defense should and our O line looked like crap. It is time for both our defense and offense to show up to every game. Laziness is not acceptable.

I don't want to sound negative, but i'm not sold on Bushrod.
Last year when he struggled against the bull rush, i thought its his first year, he will create a wider stance and get it corrected. He has not done that, he still gets beat every time with the bull rush.
Stinchcomb stunk it up yesterday, he was tap dancing, and not blocking and Abraham just jogged around him and got to brees easy.

On another Note, Bush made an awesome block when decoud blitzed through the B gap, Brees pointed to the hole and told Bush he would be blitzing, sure enough Bush made a great block, brees hits meachem.

But Yeah draft some o lineman, i wanna see what charles Brown can do. If ya see bushrod next to Carl nicks or Jahri, hes really small compared to them.

It should also be pointed out that while they did suck, Atlanta surprised us by bringing 3 zillion blitzes that we weren't prepared for.

But that fact, in my opinion, brings their grade up from an F to a D.

As Charles Davis pointed out on NFL Network, Atlanta may be in some trouble in the playoffs because the Saints will be prepared for those blitz packages next time.

Did anyone else see the one one play when an atl player was knocked to the ground, and one of our olinemen glanced at him for a sec and turned his head upfield to find no one? He stayed at his spot, and allowed that atl player to get up and flush brees towards the left end. I remembered the days when if a dlinemen falls to the ground, an offensive guy would just pounce on him and lay over him. Our Oline needs to communicate better b/c there were way too many times when atl players came in unblocked.
