Officiating

As Saints fans we are used to getting bad/non calls made against us.

But the officials last night raised the bar.

Offensive pass interference is rarely called in any game. Offiicials finally called it against the Falcants, but miraculously a defensive penalty is also called against the Saints.

I quit counting all the times I saw the Falcants holding when a Saints defender was getting close to Ryan.

The ghost 15 yd penalty roughing the passer when a defender "supposedly" hit Ryan's face mask.

And the one that pissed me off to the heights if pisstivity was when the Saints were driving and had the bird droppings on their heels and the officials suddenly decide they need to measure and make sure the Saints had a first down. It gave Atlanta a breather and I think on the next play Brees threw the pick 6.

They don't call defensive pass interference when the defender never looks back for the ball.

A defender grabs Bush's helmet and throws him down.

I know the Saints won the game despite the officials, (and themselves), but when the officials call penalties 8-92 vs 1-10, (you get 3 guesses and the 1st 2 don't count), as to which figure belongs to which team.

The Saints would probably score in triple digits if the Saints got an evenly called game!

Well thats over and done with, i hope we don't get these officials during the playoffs, i smelt all kinds of conspiracy with them, they damn near could have stuck a PS3 Wire in each players ass and played the game themselves the way they tried to control the game's outcome.. glad Saints glitched their gameplan.

i feel the pain who dat. what a lopsided flagin game. if ever there was a team to win a game with the lopsided flags its the saints, shows our class we can still kick there ass.

And don't forget the illegal block on the Bush return which was a legal block.

SmashMouth 12-28-2010 09:01 PM

I would have to wholeheartedly concur ... That's why we're champions as we can overcome even these blatantly biased calls.

Saintswrath 12-28-2010 09:25 PM

Penalties: Saints 8-92 Failcons 1-10

spkb25 12-28-2010 09:45 PM

The two that stood out to me were the Illegal block that wasn't on the bush return and the PI on torrence

This one is the one that really made me angry.

SaintPauly 12-29-2010 01:08 AM

That roughing the passer was pure bs. On the ones that would have pushed the Falcons back, there was always an offset. Blatant isn't a strong enough word for that debacle. We won, I'm happy, still mad about the league's obvious love for the Falcons.

alleycat_126 12-29-2010 04:11 AM

Im no conspiracy theorist, or anything like that but it seems like hoc-u-lees!!!! and his crew got paid extra to keep the game close. Brees and company starting field position near or around goaline on most of the drives besides ATL's turnover. It's gonna be on NFL Network, so Im DVRing it to watch again without all the emotion that I watched with while it was live.

skymike 12-29-2010 05:43 AM

pisstivity

hahaha.... cmon now.

TheDeuce 12-29-2010 09:56 AM

I thought it was pretty fair. Plus we won the game. Let's face it guys, our team commits a lot of penalties.

Watch Smith getting held on virtually every snap on the replay tonight and then reassess whether or not you think it was called fairly.

1) You have to be (a) focused exclusively on Bushrod and (b) looking to nitpick to call him for the false start that wiped out our first go ahead touchdown.

2) Conversely, you have to be purposefully and specifically ignoring or otherwise simply refusing to call at least one holding call on Atlanta when they held on more or less every offensive snap they took.

Oh no. That game was not called fairly.

What time is the replay? Is it on the NFL Network? The "old man" told me he wished we recorded the game, but I rather record it on replay since there are virtually no interruptions.

I'm not saying the Saints don't commit penalties.

But damn,if the refs are only going to call one penalty on Atlanta, why bother?

skymike 12-29-2010 04:10 PM

tell you what i hated seeing. the vikings were robbed last night by replay. #18 clearly made a perfect endzone catch, got his feet in, but was robbed by super slo-mo which showed the ball wiggling several atoms the size of an amoeba's balls .0000003 of a half inch, which they said meant he didnt have control. He caught the damn thing, and ended up with it. In the back yard, thats a freakin catch. Replay did exactly the same thing to Eric martin in 1988. Proves my point that all replay is, besides a delay of game, is a 2nd chance for the refs to screw up.

this is a wacky opinion, and nobody will agree with me, but we lived for years without it, and did fine. i know Im crazy. I also dont need a helmet to ride a bicycle.

BringTheWood 12-29-2010 04:30 PM

I can do nothing but agree entirely about these calls. I'm particularly steamed about the no-call on that blatant PI against Lance in the endzone. It happened the exact say way that the call on Porter did. Difference? They didn't give us our call. Falcons never stood a chance. We dominated them if you take the picks and penalties into account. We own that nest, and come postseason, we're gonna crush any hopes they have of playing in Dallas.

Mardigras9 12-29-2010 04:56 PM

The dirtybirds should realize we did everything possible to lose the game and still beat them. They should be worried about their playoff run.

Penalties need to be added to what can be challenged. We have all watched games and a players number is called and that player was on the sidelines.

If a defender was held, and by it not being called, the QB completed a pass for a TD or 1st down, that should be challengeable.

WhoDat!656 12-29-2010 08:36 PM

Hey buddy!!

These nuts up here are already shooting guns. I guess they are getting ready for New Year's!

It is a great time to be a Saints fan around here!!

The few Dallas fans that are brave enough to wear a cap or jersey in public, suddenly find something interesting with the tops of their shoes while standing in line when I show up wearing a Saints Super Bowl cap.

skymike 12-30-2010 06:41 AM

oh oh oh 656 do this for me--- paint your back window on your car. paint the biggest fleur de lis you can and RUB IT IN!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA....

Looks like I cant make it to Natchitoches for the lights this year.... disappointed, but I know my wife and I will stay there one weekend just to relax. GEAUX NWLA!

on to N.O. this weekend!!!! cant wait to get my butt in the terrace.
