Danno 12-30-2010 11:25 AM

Thats the rumor, and its from a very very reliable source.

WW_Who_Dat 12-30-2010 11:56 AM

Could Be

Could be the reason why Roby went to IR and Arrington was sign of the practice squad.:bng:

niteadept 12-30-2010 12:04 PM

That sucks:(

Srgt. Hulka 12-30-2010 12:27 PM

Oh ****!

Please don't be true! Please don't be true!! Please don't be true!!

818SAINT 12-30-2010 12:55 PM

Damn I hope that isn't true, Arrington better pick it up

subguy 12-30-2010 01:03 PM

That wouldn't be good news

lumm0x 12-30-2010 01:08 PM

Please be a false rumour.

CashAndFlash 12-30-2010 01:11 PM

Realistically, I think we can survive without him.

i kind of agree with you. we have to beat tampa and rams or seahawks without him...

GeauxForMore 12-30-2010 01:21 PM

He missed practice Weds. for a knee injury and he's questionable for the game against tampa. So I dont think he will miss the game, but I wouldn't be shocked if they hold him out and save him for the playoffs. Like what other people are saying i think we could beat tampa without him.

Payton said Colston had an arthriscopic procedure on his knee on Tuesday and did not practice. He's listed as questionable.

The doctor that scoped my knee when I had a meniscus tear told me that he did the same procedure on a Louisiana Tech player on a Wednesday and he played that Saturday. He said there is nothing structurally which would prevent playing, but that it would be painful. He added that even that can be taken care of.

xan 12-30-2010 01:38 PM

He's out. We'll be lucky if he's back for the Conference Championship. knee scopes means there's a fair bit of inflammation and peripheral damage. It will take at least 1 week for the swelling to dissipate and another week for meaningful healing. That's missing the Bucs then the Rams. If he has any pain cutting or pushing off, he's out against the Clowns.

It depends upon how intrusive it is. If is simply a little shaving of a flayed meniscus the down time would be minimal.

Either ways - yuk and damn

CashAndFlash 12-30-2010 02:24 PM

any news on Ivory?

Rugby Saint II 12-30-2010 02:29 PM

He'll probably be active and play if we have to have him. Although Payton does a good job of rehabbing his players and not rushing them too much.

papz 12-30-2010 02:32 PM

Coach Sean Payton confirmed that Marques Colston underwent a knee scope because the team believed it wasn't serious enough to keep him out for the playoffs.

Colston is officially questionable for this week's game, but it would be a major surprise if he ends up playing. Instead, the Saints seem to be aiming for a return next week against the NFC West champ -- provided the Falcons win Sunday.

Colston always draws double coverage this is not the best news.

Probably means Bush will draw more which will leave Meachem, Henderson, Moore and Graham open. And if we have Ivory back, there's no way anyone can contain him, PT and the rest of the gang. Brees doesn't have one go to guy and there is never any way of knowing which man to double coverage with the majority of our guys back in. That's what happens when you have a Drew Brees vs the other "I can only throw to one or two guys on my team" qbs. Get Well Colston!! We need you as well!!

AsylumGuido 12-30-2010 03:32 PM

Relax people. Colston's "surgery" was as minor as a scope could be. Much less intrusive than a meniscus tear.

"The most significant thing here is that coach Sean Payton said Colston had arthroscopic surgery Tuesday to clean out some “loose bodies’’ in his knee. Payton said he’s not ruling Colston out for Sunday. As strange as that might sound, it’s not out of the realm of possibility. There have been many cases of athletes returning within days of minor clean-up surgery. But you have to think the Saints, who already have clinched a playoff berth, might rest Colston just to be safe. They’re very deep at receiver and they activated receiver Adrian Arrington off the practice squad today."

Colston had most likely been playing with chips in the for a while and they simply chose now to clean it up to be at his max come playoffs. He could no doubt play this weekend if they felt he was needed. No way he isn't back for the first playoff game.

Checking injuries that matter most

RaginCajun83 12-30-2010 03:37 PM

Rest him this week, Saints are going to need him in the playoffs. Sean even said he could go if needed this week proves how minor the surgery was, get well Colston, the offense isn't the same without you

skymike 12-30-2010 03:39 PM

colston draws 3 guys on every play. mc + reggie = 6 players covering.
:D

skymike 12-30-2010 03:40 PM

and actually, this sucks. When did Colston get hurt? I had no idea.

ok, if they've activated Arrington, and Roby is on IR, thats 1 guy in, and 2 guys out. Whos the other addition?

Cory9289 12-30-2010 03:42 PM

Agreed, the one thing i will look for however is to see if Lance Moore gets doubled, that started to happen when he got all his TD's in the middle of the season. He was doubled vs the cowboys.
As you pointed out though, we still have too many weapons to stop;

Love me some Jimmy Graham - what a beast he is, an he's only a rookie, he is only going to get better.
Lance Moore is always Lance Moore
Devery might see some more throws come his way, last year he worked the middle of the field, i'm happy he can do that again.
Reggie will draw 2 or 3 Defenders at a time, Pierre's heart on every play speaks for itself.
Time to see what the kid Arrington can do, he looked good in preseason, but welcome to the big time now adrian.

Minor, indeed. Removing loose debris is hardly much more intrusive than removing a mole. No interior soft tissues are affected since what is being removed is unattached. It is basically like going in with a small vacuum tube and sucking out tiny chips.

RaginCajun83 12-30-2010 03:43 PM

Come on Sean give Junyah the spot

As I mentioned earlier, this could have been there for weeks. No biggie.

skymike 12-30-2010 03:47 PM

Tell you what, I hope th e team is taking Tampa more seriously than we are. I'm not calling us out, because we dont play the game anyway, Im just saying I think we're underestimating Josh Freeman and his recent performance, and we're also forgetting that they're playing for their playoff survival. We're gonna get their hardest shot. I hope our guys are ready and pumped up.

Those of us going to the Dome need to bring our lungs and not sit up there like the Bucs are supposed to just go out there and roll over for us.

foreverfan 12-30-2010 03:49 PM

Payton just said on WWL AM 870 that he might play this week.

I trust Coach Paytons decision, if in doubt - he'll keep Colston limited, let arrington get some snaps and see if he can make an impact, whilst working Colston in there to keep him on his toes and to make sure theres no rust.

skymike 12-30-2010 04:03 PM

he just gets more and more badass.

The Marques Colston legend grows.

not just a pretty face.

I always thought if they redid the A-team, Rickey would be a perfect
B.A. Baracus.

Saintswrath 12-30-2010 04:21 PM

It was a bone cleaning scope, at worse it's going to end up being a bruise, just need to re-strengthen the muscle around it..
