FLOWERY BRANCH -- Most of the Falcons were ready to move on to Sunday's game against Carolina, but took due notice of the Saints posing for pictures and allegedly desecrating the team's logo after Monday night's game at the Georgia Dome.

"You just have to put that in your memory bank," Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon said Thursday.

The Falcons and the Saints could meet again in the playoffs, and the players believe the posing for pictures and alleged urination on the logo by Saints defensive tackle Remi Ayodele would be a major issue.

The Falcons would welcome a rematch with the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints.

"We look forward to seeing them again," safety Thomas DeCoud said. "Having them come back out here to Atlanta for Round Three."

The Falcons beat the Saints 27-24 on Sept. 27. The Saints prevailed 17-14 on Monday.

Asked if he was calling for a rematch, DeCoud said, "Yeah, why not. We have to pit the best against the best to see who is going to get to the [Super] Bowl."

The Falcons (12-3) would need to beat the Carolina (2-13) on Sunday. The Falcons would wrap up the No. 1 seed, and Saints would be the No. 5 seed.

The Saints would play the NFC West champion in the first round of the playoffs. Should the Saints win and the No. 3 seed defeats the No. 6 seed, the Falcons would play host to the Saints in the next round.

Before the latest game, both sides were hot and bothered over tweets by Falcons wide receiver Roddy White about the Saints and the city of New Orleans.

The Falcons, while tamed in their comments, were not happy with the Saints taking photos on the logo. In heated rivalries, these little dust-ups can get magnified.

"It was a division game," said "Fox NFL Sunday" pregame analyst Howie Long. "There's some bad blood there. I know that New Orleans, which has won a Super Bowl, had not been particularly fond of the fact that the Falcons have gotten so much attention, and they are in the same division."

The Falcons led the NFL with seven players selected to the NFC Pro Bowl team. The Saints had only three players selected.

But word of the Saints' postgame actions has made its way around the Falcons' locker room.

"I never saw it, but when I heard about it, that really wasn't a big deal or a concern for me," fullback Ovie Mughelli said. "That game is over with. I'm trying to beat the Panthers, so it wasn't even an issue. I know people are talking about it. We do the same thing at other people's places, so it didn't really matter to me."

But the issue will linger.

"If, and when we play them again, we'll probably address that, but at this point I don't have enough side energy or focus to give that any time," Mughelli said.

Overblown hyperbole.

By the time they meet again the story will be that Remi sacrificed and ate Arthur Blank's grandchildren on the 50 yd line.

Another instance of the talking heads trying to create controversy where none exists.
