Most Hated Saints Ever?

Ok who peeved you the most and why?

For me it was Carl Smith. We needed an offense to play with the 9ers back then and Smith and Mora was out coached every year.

Still, they all get honorable mention.

|Mitch| 12-31-2010 03:34 AM

Gotta go with Ditka and the whole Ricky Willams debacle, give the whole draft to move up and draft him. What a waste...
Not to mention all the hype that came with Ditka himself...

subguy 12-31-2010 06:21 AM

Those are all really good choices......the way Haslett and Brooks were joined at the hip used to kill me. Also, the Ricky Williams debacle.

CashAndFlash 12-31-2010 08:06 AM

Jason david/martin gramatica

CheramieIII 12-31-2010 08:19 AM

My eyes just zoomed in on AB and Hasbeen! Haslett was good for a couple of years but AB just teed me off, ALOT!

RockyMountainSaint 12-31-2010 08:39 AM

All of the above!

Most hated has to be Jim "Hazelett" for allowing "He who shall not be named" to play regardless of the situation.

Carl Smith has to be mentioned as well. I can't count the number of times that I found myself screaming at the television because of his play it safe calls.

C17-BING 12-31-2010 09:37 AM

Personally, I hated Mike McCarthy ...

WhoDat!656 12-31-2010 10:20 AM

Mora and Carl Smith.

Saints didn't have the most explosive offense in football, but they could play with anyone.

I have a MNF game taped between the Saints and the defending Super Bowl champion Redskins in the Superdome.

The Saints OWNED the Skins that night!!

Mardigras9 12-31-2010 10:37 AM

Hard to look back past Jason David, those memories are still too fresh.

alleycat_126 12-31-2010 11:15 AM

Toi Cook, a corner who always got smoked as a Saint. Goes and plays nickel corner for the World Champion 49ers. Bulls*&%

Bing... McCarthy was a great coach. Look what he did with Brooks. When he left, the whole team went downhill.

Man... I thought Jason David & Johnie Poe would walk away with this. Maybe I should have thrown in Josh Bullocks.

RailBoss 12-31-2010 11:38 AM

You know C-17 I almost forgot about Mike McCarthy but he is right up there with Ditka in my book.

iceshack149 12-31-2010 11:51 AM

Johnathon Sullivan. The guy got his money and almost literally eat his way out of the league. The Saints gave up 2 first round picks for that guy.

The draft with Ricky was awful but at least he played and the Saints got some nice picks for him from Miami.

And we have the winner!

If that lazy POS had 1/2 the work ethic of the players on this current team he still be playing in this league and probably playing well.

Boutte 12-31-2010 12:05 PM

Chuck Muncie

saintsfan601 12-31-2010 02:05 PM

I couldn't pick any of the choices.I rooted for everyone of those guys when they put on a uniform or a headset for the Saints.I do agree with the Sullivan choice though. He never did produce anything.

OldMaid 12-31-2010 02:18 PM

Boutte said Muncie.Ahhh, old times. My dad used to say,
" G)(*&^%$,because they are all moochy heads."

I do not like show offs, showboating. The players who do this are usually a waste. Ricky Williams was like this. I never liked Ricky Williams.

I know many people don't like Arron Brooks, but really, Drew Brees is the only real qb you have ever had.
Saints qb's-Aaron Brooks, Richard Todd (old meat),Stabler was old too, out -of -the -pocket -running John Fourcade, and even Bobby and Archie were ok.
Take it, Brees has the whole system of players, and coaching staff ,but still, this guy turned out to be a diamond in the rough.

st thomas 12-31-2010 02:18 PM

we had a 1st rd pick call shawn knight that was a bust back in the 80's

I fault Ditka more than anyone else. He quandered many a game with poor clock management and bad judgement calls. Only thing I really give him credit for is going after Doug Flutie.

Venturi on the other hand, awful. People were always patting him on the back which I never understood. He was a hard worker but the results more often than not were highlight reels for other teams.

ScottF 12-31-2010 03:31 PM

I picked Ditka bc of the long term effects. We were still shaking off his hangover yeras later

Jason David was supposed to fill our most glaring need at that time. We dropped big money on him, but in the end we recovered.

No one who went to ATL, other than Morten, really did much afterwards- Horn, Ambrose, few other minor players

RailBoss 12-31-2010 03:47 PM

Oh no not Chuck Muncie:
After Football Life Experiences

Muncie, like most athletes in that era got caught in the party days of California, that involved use of cocaine. Muncie spent time in federal prison in California for 18 months on cocaine distribution charges, which shaped his future.

After prison, Muncie has dedicated himself to a life of community service. He established his own foundation called the Chuck Muncie Youth Foundation (Chuck Muncie Youth Foundation 8th annual Celebrity Sports Auction and Golf Tournament). The work of this foundation has been life changing to many, especially the disenfrancised population. He actively participates in his foundation which offers Youth Mentoring, Kids Camp, Tattoo Removal, School Assistance, Immunization for the Uninsured, Wellness Fair, Job Training and an array of other programs. Muncie continues to mentor University of California football players once a year.

Muncie took the fame and glory of his NFL career and the experiences of being incarcerated to shaping the life of today by helping them on making smarter choices, being responsible, not succumbing to peer pressure and thriving on execeling in academia and giving back to society.

UK_WhoDat 12-31-2010 04:14 PM

Hard to look past AB. Man that smirk!

AllSaints 12-31-2010 04:23 PM

uhh any saint who went to dirty bird... They lose all my who dat respect....

pherein 12-31-2010 04:26 PM

I dont hate anyone them, because if those chain of events were not done, no matter how painful they were, we wouldn't be here now.

They were just missaints.

Yeah I read this too and saw an interview he did. Glad he turned it around. But still hated him with a passion at the time. He was biggest waste of talent I've ever seen.

RockyMountainSaint 12-31-2010 05:29 PM

Tebucky Jones,
Alex Molden,

Albert Connell has to be given serious consideration.

Beastmode 12-31-2010 07:41 PM

Molden, that conjures up painful memories. I thought finally, we got a shut down corner. The announcers would make fun of him all the time for playing 10 yards off the receiver. What a wasted pick.

I can't go as far back as some but Ditka and the Billy Joe'es were bad times. Once, BJ Hobart asked me at a charity event if I wanted to have sex with his wife right in front of her. He was fairly drunk and they were both laughing. I just thought, man, what a great leader we have.

QBREES9 12-31-2010 09:05 PM

Aaron Brooks never had any use for him.

Fleured 01-01-2011 06:53 AM

Gotta be Ditka with his Billy Joe-of-the-month club (Hobert and Tolliver). Anyone who admits to not knowing the playbook like Hobert did in Buffalo needs a job retrieving Gatorade.

xan 01-01-2011 09:19 AM

Jonathan Sullivan. Defiant, giant turd. No, sorry. I just got an IM from the head of the Turds complaining of the injustice of being linked to Sully. They advised that the Cess Pool Floater delegation nominated him as president.

QBREES9 01-01-2011 09:45 AM

I dislike Jason David so much I forgot about him.

Russell "TAX EVASION" Erxlaben
Albert "CONVICT" Connell

Ashley 01-01-2011 01:00 PM
