Panthers announce: John Fox fired after this season

Reported on ESPNHD and NFL network a second ago..

Panthers Announced John Fox will not return as Head Coach Next Season.

----
He better make a nice closing statement to other teams that potentially want him.

RailBoss 12-31-2010 04:26 PM

Yeah if The Fox upsets Atlanta his options will look brighter. If he loses he will probably be sent to Buffalo.

Or, possilbly worse...OAKLAND.

Yeah coaching in Al Davis land is one step away from mopping floors at an asylum. Even when Carolina was competitive Coach Fox never annoyed me like Mike Smith does.

i have to say the same.

subguy 12-31-2010 05:28 PM

Tough year for the guy but no one should be the least bit surprised

breesfan27 12-31-2010 05:33 PM

I'm not surprised he's getting canned, but why couldn't they have waited until MONDAY to tell him?

WhoDat!656 12-31-2010 05:43 PM

Same with Singletary. Why not let him finish the season instead of firing him with one game left.

niteadept 12-31-2010 06:00 PM

Seriously?! This is not breaking news.... Fans around here have been calling for his head since last season. They should have parted ways with him last season along w/ "carolina cajun".

coinflip 12-31-2010 06:04 PM

He'll get picked up somwhere quick.Prob dcord overin Dullass..

OldMaid 12-31-2010 06:07 PM

Seems not the best time to make this statement as for players and the rest of the staff's moral.
Everybody knows if you not winning, then the onwer of the team will fire you.

Oakland is an upgrade over Buffalo, they have been lighten up teams this year..
If Fox get that gig he'll have a field day with that team.

Lighting it up or not, AL Davis is what makes coaching in Oakland a nightmare. I guarantee any coach would choose Buffalo over Oakland.

Fox will become our DC if Gregg leaves.

Presumptuous but i always liked the idea of having him team up with his buddy..

He was a DC before becoming a head coach just like Gregg Williams was..

Both John Fox and Gregg Williams are failing Head Coaches, but John Fox actually had more success so that would work out well in Saints favor if GW decided to part ways.

I agree completely :)

John Fox is a good guy !!!! He'll land on feet and live to coach another game

jnormand 01-01-2011 01:50 AM

This couldn't have happened at a better time. IMO, the Panthers have a better chance of winning this game for Coach.

Pretty much, players will now be playing to save their jobs, Fox is merely a statue in this game, the players will now be playing for the GM and the owner to retain or lose their jobs as well.

QBREES9 01-01-2011 11:23 PM

John Fox ya you don't have to good home but you can't stay here. Good Luck John.

sorry to see you go Foxy. I wish you the best - you have been a fierce oppoent over the years and have my respect.

SaintPauly 01-03-2011 02:42 AM

Panthers sat back, and took it up the tail pipe today. Didn't even TRY... No respect for the team, nor the coach... Way to go out with no dignity whatsoever Carolina...... I would be so proud as a fan right now....

I can understand the players, what are they figthting for? They know Fox will be gone, they know the season is over. A roster spot next year? Yeah maybe, if they want to stay with the Panthers. But expecting them to fight and try to win so that it helps the Saints...? Nah, aint gonna happen.
