Today's injuries

Jenkins, Graham, Ivory...what is the extent of these injuries?
seriously...is ivory made of glass? the guy cant finish a game. 3 injuries in the first half is really frustrating. i love ivory but dont understand how he can get hurt so much. i know people like to say because he runs so hard but he got hurt on a play that wasnt even hard. what us the f ing problem?!?!

darstep 01-02-2011 05:15 PM

I'm just glad I didn't see that mess. I'd hate to have to try to get it out of my mind. We should not be losing this kind of game...at the end of the season...on our way to the playoffs...

realheavyd 01-02-2011 05:19 PM

The bigger concern is not the loss, but the injuries. Jenkins, Ivory and Graham better all heal up in a huge hurry along with Pierre & David Thomas, Shockey, Colston, Hargrove and Waters...

I know Graham slightly sprained a knee, couldn't have been to bad. He was trying to walk it off and get back in today. Payton was probably just saving him for next week.

Have no idea what happened to Jenkins, Billick said something about a shoulder and that's all I ever heard.

Ivory and his hamstrings, that's been his story ever since he was in college. I don't know if he doesn't properly stretch or what, but if he can't make it through full games I don't see him on the roster next year.

Graham appeared to have come down wrong after his chest butt celebration following his touchdown.

Jenkins grabbed his knee following that tackle at the sideline.

Ivory did something to the foot. Missed what happened there.

niteadept 01-02-2011 05:54 PM

I thought Graham was hurt before he caught the TD. He was limping on the play before it, but got back in and made the catch.

Jenkins was definitely missed out there.

Ivory? Drives me crazy when he goes out.

Time to put the delicate china away....

Yup. Graham initially hurt it two plays earlier, but when he came down from the chest, or shoulder bump, you can see him stumble and look down.

Ivory plays alot like Shockey. Lots of heart and punishes defenses, but puts a toll on his body. He can be coached out of that. But man it does seem like he gets hurt every time he touches the ball.

arsaint 01-02-2011 06:49 PM

Graham's TD gave the Saints their only lead at 7-3 in the first quarter, but he left favoring his left ankle and did not return to a Saints squad that came in with only two tight ends in uniform; Jeremy Shockey (groin) and David Thomas (right knee) were inactive.

The Saints also played most of the game without starting free safety Malcolm Jenkins and leading rusher Chris Ivory. Jenkins hurt his right knee on the first defensive series while tackling Blount along the sideline. Ivory had a left foot injury in the first half.

The MJ Knee Injury looked like it was hit by the Runners Knee. Probably a Bruise...hopefully

RailBoss 01-02-2011 06:57 PM

When Atlanta went up 21 to 0 in the first half SP should have pulled every starter off that field.

|Mitch| 01-02-2011 07:01 PM

In hindsight; they should have never seen the field to begin with.

Danno 01-02-2011 07:10 PM

Its football. PT was injured in practice, and every player we have could also.

If we hadn't played them and came out flat next week everyone would be complaining that they should have played at least a half to stay in rhythm.

We have a fragile team, especially at RB. I'll take Michael Turner over any of the glass RB's we now have. Look for the Saints to draft a RB high this year.

I found this for MJ. Doesn't sound horrible, I hope!

X2 We have needed a big power back. Like every since Duece blew out his knees!!

Hamilton was that back until injuries sidelined him this year...

He runs as if he's 245lbs when he 's only a hair over 220, I get it, he has heart but that heart isn't helping anyone out when it's sitting on the sidlelines. We need a run attack right now. If we can't figure it out next week it's going to be a short second season. Brees is good but he can't pull rabbits out of his hat every freakin play. Bush if you are reading this, RUN FORWARD and forward only. No going left or right. Get the ball and go straight ahead with authority.

lynwood 01-02-2011 10:43 PM

PT will want to shine during the playoffs to better his chances of getting paid.

Saintswrath 01-02-2011 10:45 PM

I think Sean Payton did precautionary sit-outs for these players, there was no reason to play them a full game.

Rugby Saint II 01-03-2011 10:41 AM

It looks like all injuries were minor and that is a relief. We need to be as healthy as possible for the playoffs. Last year we had everybody available in the playoffs and......well you know the rest.:)

Budsdrinker 01-03-2011 12:30 PM

I was at the game and sit in the endzone where the Saints locker room is. After the TD, the trainers were looking at Greaham's foot, ankle and he jog off to the locker room. It looked to me like a minor sprain or twisting of the ankle and he should be fine. If the game had any meaning he could have come back in. Jenkins took a shot from Blount and it looked like knee on knee with a lot of emphasis on the kneecap in particular. Hopefully it's just a bruise. Ivory is a reckless runner. Just look what he did when he ran over Barry Rudd. Probably another twisted ankle hopefully minor. Didn't really see when he left the field but out of all of the injuries yesterday I believe Graham's is least severe but hopefully they are all minor and Payton just kept them out of a meaningless game.

The Saints suffered several key injuries during Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Bucs. Running back Chris Ivory left with a foot injury, and tight end Jimmy Graham suffered an ankle injury.

The biggest concern centers on safety Malcolm Jenkins, who left in the first quarter with a knee injury.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Jenkins will have an MRI today. It’s believed to be an issue more with the knee cap than with the ligaments. That said, we’re told that Jenkins thinks he’ll be fine.

Either way, the Saints will need to get their injured guys ready to go on Saturday, when they head to Seattle to commence the quest for “Two Dat.”

I was wondering what happened to Ivory. He's not going to be much used to us if he can't finish a game. That's sad too, because he's an awesome runner and has so much potential. Bush did pretty good stepping up today, but he's not going to replace Ivory.

SaintPauly 01-04-2011 02:45 PM

Didn't someone say that Ivory was seen on crutches, wearing a boot? I certainly hope not. I say we draft a RB somewhere anyway. Also need a OLB.... A really mean one, that eats live chickens before games.....

neugey 01-04-2011 02:53 PM

Jenkins walked off on his own power, so guessing he's not hurt too bad.

Hope Ivory gets better. It was beautiful when he flat ran over Ruud's tackle early on in the game.

Yes Ivory was spotted in a Booty and on crutches.. however it could just be precautionary and to let off weight on it.
