PT to IR????

CONFIRMED - Pierre Thomas placed on injured reserve list...

Jeff Duncan posted on twitter that he heard PT might have been placed on IR but it hasn't been confirmed. God I hope not.

if they just signed a new back its probably true

Next man up, we'll be fine.

Watch that point spread shift

I hear ya. But ATM we are signing zero lifetime carry guys.

cajun911 01-05-2011 12:50 PM

Now I starting to worry. I was disappointed Ivory was out, but still had faith with Bush and PT. But if PT is out too, there goes our run game. I know Bush had a pretty good game against the Bucs, but I doubtg he can carry us through the playoffs.:(

Danno 01-05-2011 12:55 PM

All bravado aside, if we have to make it thru the playoffs with Reggie as our full timer, with spot duty from Wynn and Bell, its gonna be a miracle if we can make it thru SEA, CHI/ATL, PHL/GB.

st thomas 01-05-2011 12:57 PM

still no worry; this game.

neugey 01-05-2011 12:59 PM

Man if PT is out, it's run-and-shoot with Bush as our primary back. Hmmm, I still like our chances :-)

SeahawksFan 01-05-2011 01:04 PM

If Pierre Thomas is really out, do you guys think Julius Jones will get a lot of work on Saturday?

He used to play for the Seahawks. He also used to play for the Cowboys. Once on MNF in '04 he ran for almost 200 yards for the Cowboys against the Seahawks at Qwest Field to help the Cowboys stage a huge 4th-quarter comeback and beat the Seahawks!

It was awful! I hope he doesn't do THAT again!

;)

That would be one heck of a way to disprove doubters.

Saints win SB on the road with no name RBs

All our backs should get their carries; not sure which one will be the featured back. Does it really matter?

That's what I'm thinking. Reggie isn't ever going to be that guy between the tackles, short yardage specialist or meet most of the criteria for a running back.
I understand about next man up and the interchangeable parts. Does a starter for a 2010 Jeep Renegade fit a 2010 Cadillac CTS? I'm not a mechanic but I believe that the batteries are interchangeable. You can use parts that aren't designed for your car and make them work.....although they may not work as well and need to be replaced as soon as possible. My point is some parts are interchangeable and some aren't.

Halo 01-05-2011 02:30 PM

I think the Saints have problems. When PT was in for the Falcons game the whole offense started to click. Gonna take a lot of Wynn and Jones to step up to complement Reggie. Hope they game-plan correctly.

papz 01-05-2011 02:30 PM

Wow. Here's your chance to show the world you can handle the load Reggie... I hope you're up for the task. I'll be wearing my Bush jersey this Saturday.

WWL AM-870 Payton's Press Confrence

PT ON INJURED RESERVE

Protection is the issue he's worred about.
Ivory will have surgery. Thomas won't say on surgery. Bush fully recovered

John Elway wants to interview Greg Williams. Saints denied interview at this time because of playoffs.

Overtime Rule:
Only if first possesion produces a FG the other team gets a possession. TD game is over.

SAINTS SIGN FROM TAMPA PRACTICE SQUAD JOIQUE BELL, RB WAYNE STATE

03/24/2010 - Wayne State running back Joique Bell made the trip up to Mount Pleasant to go through a full workout, including position drills. Bell, who has had disappointing 40-yard dash times in the 4.6 and 4.7 range at the NFL scouting combine and his pro day, ran another slow time Wednesday. One scout had it at 4.82 and another in the high 4.7s. "Jerry Rice and Walter Payton ran slow 40 times too," Bell said. "Did you ever see Jerry Rice get caught from behind? Football speed is a completely different thing. It's like you have that extra gear to run away from guys. "I just hope people look at my entire body of work and my tape. I was in the top 3 percent in nearly all the other drills at the combine." One scout said Bell (5-11, 220) should stop running the 40-yard dash. He'll have at least two more chances to run it before the draft, though. Bell has private workouts scheduled with the Chiefs on April 1 and Lions on April 14. "I've been hearing I can go anywhere from the third round to the sixth round," he said. - Tim Twentyman, The Detroit News

Inside: Well-developed upper and lower bodies give him strength to get tough yards inside. Sidesteps penetrating defenders, able to find a hole and accelerate to it. Presses the line but has the good vision to bounce a play outside when the B-gap closes. Will push the pile near the goal line and keep fighting for yards after contact.
Outside: Patient runner who could succeed in a zone scheme. Very good balance and will spin off a tackle or put his hand down to keep himself upright. Runs with the ball in either hand, although he can get a bit loose with it in the open field (four fumbles in '09). Has the speed to get to the corner against Division II defenses but will have a harder time doing so against NFL competition. Lacks breakaway speed or a second gear once in the open, but smaller defenders have a tough time tracking him down without the perfect angle.
Breaking tackles: Strong runner in trash who keeps legs churning until he's on the ground. Runs with a lean that prevents straight-on collisions and makes smaller defenders bounce off him. Tough for defensive backs to bring down in the open field and can leap over cut tackles. Can jump high over the pile near the goal line or dive into the end zone from a few yards out.
Blocking: Will need to prove himself in pass protection, as he has limited experience and hasn't faced NFL-caliber defenders coming after quarterback. Effort is there, however, and he has the low center of gravity and strength to stand his ground. Receiving: Usually catches the ball with his hands, although the pace on those passes isn't NFL-caliber. Typically used on screens and throws into the flat, but is willing to run crossing patterns and make catches in traffic. Good vision and toughness after the catch, but faster, stronger NFL defenders will be more difficult to avoid in the open field. Intangibles: Highly regarded among his teammates and coaches as an unselfish leader by example. Came from tough childhood in a very poor Michigan town to succeed. On schedule to graduate with a Criminal Justice degree.

Bell has rushed for 2,000-plus yards in each of the past two seasons. That's impressive at any level of football. For his 2,084-yard, 29-touchdown effort in 2009, he won the Harlon Hill Award Trophy as the best player in Division II. Bell exploded onto the scene with 2,065 yards in his redshirt freshman year, earning the AFCA All-American status he also received in 2009. In between those historic bookend seasons, he managed mortal-like numbers (1,427 yards in 2007 and 1,152 in 2008), giving him 6,728 rushing yards and 89 touchdowns for his career in addition to 79 receptions for 918 yards and eight more scores. His total all-purpose yardage (8,055, which includes 409 return yards) and scoring total put him ninth and fifth in NCAA history in any division. The four-time first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection dominated at a lower level of competition and has some ball security issues. He also failed to put up a great 40 at the Combine (4.68). But his shuttle times were on par with quick back Jahvid Best in Indy, and scouts see a lot of good things in his game that any successful NFL back needs: strength, balance, effort and enough speed to hit holes quickly. Don't be surprised if his name is called relatively early on draft Saturday.

Euphoria 01-05-2011 02:34 PM

Reggie carry the load??? Been there done that.

Our off season will begin Saturday evening.

I think Jones will be able to fill PT shoes enough to get us a win.

Mardigras9 01-05-2011 02:34 PM

Not good at all.......

lynwood 01-05-2011 02:39 PM

I think bush will do fine. He won't run over anyone though but he will get us some ground yards.

Defense is going to have to score for offense next round.

Euphoria 01-05-2011 02:39 PM

JOIQUE BELL
Comes to us via the Eagles... I am impressed from the video... but notices he wear's number 5 like Reggie did???

gumbeau 01-05-2011 03:21 PM

Bell won't play much. He will be a liability in pass protection so he would only be in on obvious running plays.

Up to Bush and lots of extra tight ends to keep Brees upright.

Expect a blitz every down Bell plays.

neugey 01-05-2011 03:22 PM

Ugh - I think we need to start acquiring our runningbacks in 24-packs

Bell probably won't even play unless we make it past the 1st round.

Bell was probably signed for help in round 2 or 3.

papz 01-05-2011 03:47 PM

On the bright side... Drew gets to throw more? We averaged less than 100 yards rushing a game last year in the playoffs and we have a pretty good defense. As crappy as it is losing 2 important players on our offense, we can do this. You don't need to have a dominant running game to win a Superbowl... and we do a great job and dinking and dunking. We just need Drew to be on his game and we'll be okay.

Speedy Ron 01-05-2011 03:47 PM

this keeps getting worse every day. who knows who will be out next. sickening...

CheramieIII 01-05-2011 04:06 PM

This really sucks but it's time for Reggie to earn his money and now he can put up or be sent packin for next year. Julius Jones, Deshawn Wynn and Joqie Bell to back him up. what what in the butt, what what in the butt! somebody better man the truck up
