Hey Roman

There's a playoff game today at 1:30 PT. You might want to show up.

saintsfan1976 01-08-2011 07:06 PM

Absolutely TRUE.

G Williams head coaching rumors didn't help....

Euphoria 01-08-2011 07:09 PM

Last season for Harper...

Stay home and play with your Grand kids.

vpheughan 01-08-2011 08:38 PM

Bye Greg! Thanks for the trophy! Have fun in Denver. You SUCKED today!! Welcome John Fox!!!

Srgt. Hulka 01-08-2011 08:41 PM

Fire the whole ******* defensive line. They all sucked!

******* Drew Brees can't run five yards for a sorry ass first down, but he can tackle better than all of you guys.

st thomas 01-08-2011 08:43 PM

the age showed up in seattle today. harper, sharper

breesfan27 01-08-2011 09:00 PM

Ages?? Harper is only 28. If that makes him old, my boyfriend is ****ed.

rich006 01-08-2011 09:08 PM

Harper has been great this year. Today he looked awful, but he wasn't the only one. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Obviously they missed MJ out there and the defense didn't play well as a team.

Sharper looked more like a rookie than an old-timer, biting on short routes and generally being in the wrong place all the time.

jerlegg33 01-08-2011 09:30 PM

I think the gray hair of Roman's throws off his age! Very disappointing today though. I can't remember a game where a defensive player stood out so bad as Harper did today. I still love my Saints though! Time to put in the Saints super bowl DVD!

saintsfan1976 01-08-2011 10:42 PM

What you're all forgetting is how the loss of Malcolm Jenkins affected this defense...

papz 01-08-2011 11:06 PM

Roman Harper... Roy Willias.

But... there's no crying in football. I did not expect us to win the Superbowl... but I didn't think we'd lose to Hawks.

cargojon 01-09-2011 12:11 AM

I think any chance Williams had as a head coach just flew out the window with this 41 point abomination...

saintsfan1976 01-09-2011 12:19 AM

That was one long superbowl party. nuff said. Still, they made the playoffs in spite of all the injuries. We'll heal, reload and be back next year.

RailBoss 01-09-2011 09:18 AM

Yeah Mac Jenkins is a pivotal key to this defense, but we should have gotten by The Hawks without him.

I think if you really believe that you still have a hang-over ...

niteadept 01-09-2011 10:42 AM

I can't believe that Jenkins is that much of a pivotal player! I would like to believe that our high ranking defense would have played like a high ranking defense instead of a worn out team.... It is sad when Drew Brees is a better tackler than what I saw on the field yesterday. Just wished the defense would have gone to the game.

I don't think what happened yesterday will help him get a job. We give up alot of points and most of our wins are because we outscore the opponent and obviously that's becoming a problem.

Budsdrinker 01-09-2011 10:50 AM

We need a pass rush period. It doesn't matter who plays in the secondary, if you can't pressure the QB you're in trouble. We played twice this year against Seattle and it takes the 79th dropback before we hit Hassleback with a sack that's ridiculous. He is a slightly above average QB and the defense made him look like a hall of famer.

Luda34 01-10-2011 06:12 AM

Roman Harper

As much as like Roman what we do about him he will be a free agent this year do we try to keep him or let him go because the game he played Saturday if you base it on the Saturday game let him go. Seattle made Harper look like Fred Thomas and Jason David he got toyed with the whole game.

Speedy Ron 01-10-2011 07:47 AM

that was the worst game i seen him play. he was having a good year besides that last game.

Danno 01-10-2011 07:51 AM

You don't can a player because of one or two bad games. He made the pro-bowl for a reason.

He has been and probably always will be a good, but not great, SS in this league.

He will get a huge raise this offseason, but it won't be as big as he was hoping anymore.

MatthewT 01-10-2011 07:54 AM

He has pretty much always been a liability in the passing game. He really had a horrible game for sure...

winmill1 01-10-2011 09:24 AM

He has to be the slowest starting SS in the league. Wow when Bradford ran him down I was shocked but to see slow wr's run by him makes me wonder.

foreverfan 01-10-2011 10:14 AM

My fear is that Harper has been exposed. Teams have learned how to take advantage of his lack of speed.

Hey forever, does he look even slower on that 108" HDTV?

i dont think that is true. Shiancoe killed him last year in the playoffs. he had a bad game at a bad time. plus sharper cutting wet farts on himself all over the field doesnt help him at all.

BIGEASY504 01-10-2011 11:29 AM

I’d say let him test the waters; he’s good around the LOS but a big time liability in the passing game; we played well last year and he never got exposed and this is not basing this on the last game he played, look back an you’ll see, every big name TE dogged him and Shanle

lumm0x 01-10-2011 11:37 AM

Harper is a good football player. He was playing great most of the seaosn and this game was a disaster. If we have a FS with range ala Jenkins he does not need to be a coverage safety. Sharper just doesn't have that this year since the injury. He is gone.

Harper is not the problem. Our lack of a pass rush is a problem. Our inability to tackle as a unit is a problem. Injuries were a problem that exposed weaknesses of undividuals. Jenkins and Harper is a very solid safety combination.

dizzle88 01-10-2011 11:38 AM

Sometimes he does well when matched up against TE's, but that was a pathetic game from him, he got beat 4 times on long passes, 3 for TD's, I still believe he is a good SS especially against the run, but he needs to step his game up, we cant have any weak links anymore, he needs to put in some serious work or goodbye harper, and bring back chip vaughn

neugey 01-10-2011 12:01 PM

He had many excellent games this year so I can't get too upset about one bad game. I'm sure he'll work on his pass coverage this coming season - it is just mental and tactical I think he has the talent.

lumm0x 01-10-2011 12:03 PM

Seriously....Chip Vaughn?

The voice of reason

winmill1 01-10-2011 12:13 PM

Chip Vaughn is a good special teams player but don't think he would be an acceptable option as a starter. Yeah our Dline makes our secondary have to cover their receivers too long I believe is the real problem. If Hasselback didn't misfire that pump fake he pulled on Pat Robinson(which I have never seen anyone bite on a pump fake that hard) the score would have been worse.

winmill1 01-10-2011 12:16 PM

Sharper thinking he can outsmart quarterbacks and know what they are thinking bit us. We aren't playing Mark Sanchez. Hasselbeck is a vet.

|Mitch| 01-10-2011 12:17 PM

But then he holds Gonzales to 2 catches for 13 yards. I don't & can't understand his consistency...

Budsdrinker 01-10-2011 12:21 PM

His problem was he didn't stay disciplined. He tried to guess where the ball was going and gave up his man. The TE Carlson had 1 TD all year and catches 2 in the playoff game. I'm sure after he watches the tape over and over of Carlson falling to the ground and then getting up to walk in the endzone with a TD pass he will not free lance his coverage again.

Rugby Saint II 01-10-2011 12:33 PM

Harper has always been a liability when it comes to pass coverage. He has gotten better each year and needs to continue to work hard on his coverage skills. I believe that he is still a liability with large tight ends but he continues to get better. He's a very good run stopper and if we had a better Dline he would be a Pro bowler every year.

winmill1 01-10-2011 12:35 PM

yeah he is great against the run or against slower tight ends(like gonzales) but he is a liability in coverage.
