New Orleans Saints coach Jim Haslett was unhappy about a lot of things that happened against the Philadelphia Eagles, including the final score.

He had no trouble assigning blame for the 33-20 loss, however.

"The games in this league right now aren't decided by Xs and Os," Haslett said. "Everybody runs the same stuff they've been running. We're going to run our offense, we're going to run our defense. They're going to run their offense and defense. It comes down to execution, attention to detail and discipline. And on the last two we weren't very good."

The Saints (5-6) got behind early, had a season-high 12 penalties, and turned the ball over three times. It all contributed to the loss.

Just curious, where the frick does Haslett think a team learns attention to detail and discipline???? And we actually pay this guy to take our beloved team to the promised land? Maybe the team is taking on the personality of their coach, you know, lack of attention to detail, no discipline...next we need to see the team blaming everyone but themselves for the losses and the picture will be complete.

I\'m ready to see Haslett gone as much as anybody, but the above statement does not reflect Haslett at all.

It might not reflect \"Haslett The Player\" but it most certainly reflects \"Haslett The Coach\". I have nothing against the guy personally, he was a heck of a player, but some are made for coaching and some are made for assisting. I believe the track record of Haslett the coach speaks for itself. The Saints have had nothing but internal problems from day one and no matter how many \"cancers\" Haslett has sent packing we always seem to find a new one. Inconsistency, lack of focus, an assinine amount of penalties, never knowing what team is going to show up, no leadership, all these are poor reflections of a Head Coach.

I disagree. I do not think that he has the respect of his players, nor do I think that he is a motivational coach. He does not get the most out of his players. However, when you are talking about a coach and \"attention to detail\" and \"no discipline\", I think in terms of work ethic, and there are few coaches that work as hard as Haslett. Too bad that doesn\'t always correlate into wins. :(

I was just reading an article about Bill Parcells that was written by Phil Simms. I think that quote pretty much sums up the way I feel.

Before Bill Parcells took over the Cowboy\'s job, I didn\'t hear anyone saying that the Cowboy team was better than their record the past couple of years and all they needed was a good coach. But, Parcells come in and made the Cowboys a winner. It is well known that if players don\'t perform under Bill Parcells that he will get rid of them and they know that. But, Phil Simms said that Parcells is also compassinate towards his players and they love playing for him because of that. I suppose you could say that what Parcells has done with the Cowboys could be a fluke, but his track record says otherwise.

Does anyone here think that Haslett and his coaching staff would have the Cowboys sitting where they are now? I don\'t. I\'ve been a big Haslett supporter over the years, but enough is enough. Letting go of a coach is sometimes hard for fans like myself, when you have pulled for the guy over the years, but with Haslett, I can\'t honestly say that he has been good for this team. It\'s kinda hard to keep supporting the guy when you can no longer honestly say he is furthering this Saints team.

Players don\'t seem to thrive under Haslett. Players looked confused and lost. They lack direction and don\'t seem to learn from their mistakes. Someone has got to be responsible and you can\'t point to the players because then any coach can just point to the players and blame it on them. That makes little sense.

To me, common sense would suggest that any average coach could get this Saints team to perform as well as they have. Common sense also tells me that it would be very little risk involved in hiring another coach. Not only would it be little risk, but the rewards could be GREAT.

Sorry Haslett, but I can no longer defend you.....

Of course I could be wrong and Haslet may be a great coach.

Well B&B, I guess we\'ll just agree to disagree. A dog chasing it\'s tail around in a circle is working very hard but it doesn\'t mean it has a great work ethic, it just means it doesn\'t know what else to do.
