What is your most vivid New Orleans Saints Super Bowl memory?
 

Remember when Super Bowl Sunday used to be the worst day of the entire football season? How it just served as a bitter, day-long reminder of something you desperately wanted but could never have?


No more. As disappointed as New Orleans Saints fans are about the team's early exit from the NFL post-season, Super Bowl 2011 is basically just an excuse for New Orleanians to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Super Bowl XLIV, when the Who Dat Nation sang "We Are the Champions" for the first time without crossing our fingers.

This year, the topic of conversation at Super Bowl parties will not be, "Can you imagine what this town would be like if the Saints ever won a Super Bowl?" It will be, "Do you remember what it was like when the Saints won the Super Bowl?"

The answer to that question is different for everyone. So jump into the comment stream below and tell us your most enduring memory of Feb. 7, 2010. Not the moment of the game that stands out -- thanks to Tracy Porter's heroics, we can all agree on THAT -- but the moment that will always be frozen in time for you. Was it a dogpile in your living room? A group hug with a hundred strangers in a French Quarter bar? A second-line parade to Sun Life Stadium? A tearful embrace with the Who Dat who made the road trip to Miami with you? A quiet moment alone at the end of the night, wherever you happened to be, when it finally sunk in?

A look that my brother and I shared while celebrating. Nothing was said specifically, and nothing needed to be said, but that moment will forever be etched in my memory. We have been Saints fans all of our lives, and to share that time together was really special, to say the least.

I have so many images. Porter pointing. Brees on that Podium holding up the trophy. PT scoring our first SB TD on a determined run after catching the screen pass from Drew. The Smile on Sean's face when he lifted the trophy.

Inside it was that realization on that final manning incompletion that, "Holy **** we're going to win the ****in super bowl. I fell to the floor on my back, put both fists straight up in the air, spoke it out loud: "Holy ****. We're going to win the super bowl." Then I started crying like a baby and my wife thought I was completely insane.

I still get teary thinking about it - talking about it - remembering it. I'm certain I always will. So that's what I remember most. That feeling of disbelief - of relief. Knowing that from then on I didn't have to be so disgusted watching it every year.

Being completely and Utterly frozen whilst i watched Porter run the interception back, My head was kinda saying "Wake up man, celebrate cuz this is really happening, tracy porter has just got a pick 6 of manning"

But i still couldnt move, i just really couldnt believe my eyes, then remembering the goal line stand when Manning got the colts down to our endzone in the last 2 minutes or so.
Just thinking man.....we are going to win a superbowl........our saints.........(this is not a joke, the next thing i thought was) man Blackandgold.com is going to be mental when i get online!!!!!!!!

Mike McKenzie's INT vs. the Patriots on MNF. My brother and I went to the Dome to see the game and boy did that place light up when he made that play.

I can still smell the **** after that onside kick and if some of the rest of you say you didn't **** your pants well the next time I see you I'll know your lying.

My most vivid memory of the Super Bowl was almost tapping out. Let me explain. Right after the 4th down incompletion that Manning threw in the endzone that pretty much sealed the win, everyone in the apartment I was in was on their feet. Hugs were going around everywhere. The first person I hugged was almost my last, though. My buddy, Kevin, and I were the two oldest at the party, so we had suffered longer than anyone there. He hugged me so tight that my air circulation was being cut off. As soon as he released and the airflow started again, I got dizzy and lightheaded. I turned around to sit on the sofa, but I dropped to my knees before I could get there. It took me a few seconds to get my bearings about me before I could rejoin in the celebration. The remaining hugs and cheers were very quick, because I had to go outside for some fresh air.

Mine was a moment of stunned silence. I had celebrated to extreme excess when the Field Goal went in to win the NFCG against Minn. Up to that point it was obviously my happiest moment as a Saints fan. In contrast, when Porter made the int in the SB, I sat in stunned silence. My wife has learned to read my near-superstitios mood swings when I watch the Saints, so she sat quietly too, obviously trying to hold in a loud cheer. I clearly remember slowly turning to her after a few moments with dazed, wide eyes and saying, "Honey, we're going to win the Super Bowl". The yelling then started.
