What Saints do you think should be in the Hall of Fame.

Archie Manning for sure, Tom Dempsey for the hangover kick alone, Sam Mills, Robert Vaughn and Pat Swilling (the best linebacking corps ever).

Who's your picks?

OldMaid 02-06-2011 02:55 PM

Dempsey for sure. He is the sure bet of Saints players who can be inducted into the FHofF.

I do not dislike Archie, but if a N.O. Saint had to be picked next, Dempsey would be the sure bet.
Archie was an ok qb.
I like Archie, I do not have anything against the man nor his career.
I think he has lead a very good and decent life.
I know he was Saints qb after North, and was there for a long time and at the club's begining years and was qb through some really hard Saints times.
In his private life, he is a respected business man, great husband and father, grandfather in his family.

Dempsey should be Saints candidate before Archie, the late Sam Mills, Morten , etc.

I'm not sure about Archie ... Sure, he was a good QB, but do you think people promote him for the HOF somewhat because of name recognition?

Brees has beaten every single record Archie ever set in just 5 years ... Just sayin'

Dempsey for sure ... Swilling, Morten, Roaf and DEFINITELY Mills ... Those are my picks. Sentimentally, I'd like to see Deuce, but that'll never happen.

I think Robert Vaughn was the actor, you must me Vaughn Johnson.

The Rest of the Dome Patrol seen as Ricky Jackson is already in

Sam Mills - R.I.P, If anyone was decieved by his small stature, they soon learnt what Sam Mills was all about, a hitting machine that was an absolute force.

Dempsey, Morten Andersen, Roaf.

D_it_up 02-10-2011 09:22 AM

Yeah, I'm not sold on Manning being in the HOF. Saints HOF may be as good as it gets for him. NFL? No. I would be shocked if he actually ever made it. The players that I do think deserve it are Roaf, Andersen, Mills, and maybe an outside shot for the other two members of the Dome Patrol, Swilling and Vaughn Johnson.

As far as current players with the Saints, there is a "possibility" that several are in Canton before it is all said and done: Brees (no brainer), Jahri Evans, Darren Sharper, Carl Nicks, Jonathan Vilma, Malcolm Jenkins, Marques Colston.

OldMaid 02-10-2011 06:37 PM

HoF in Canton is for players who made a lasting impression, held a record, made a record, broke a record, did something outstanding in the NFL during their playing years, are retired NFL players that others still talk about and want to follow behind them in the NFL
I don't see why many guys would want to follow Archie's career.

if arch is going to make the hall it will be on payton's shirt tail. like they said earlier drew has shattered his records already.

Locks: Drew Brees, Morten Andersen

Marginal: Sam Mills, Pat Swilling

Under Appreciated: Vaughn Johnson, LaRoi Glover

Most Beloved in Saints Fans Hearts: Archie Manning; he would have been the greatest if not for poor ownership/management; despite recent success, I'd like to know how many Employee No. 8 jerseys would sell if they were as easy to find as No.s 9, 12, 25...

Broadcasting: Jim Henderson; Saints fan or no, no one is more passionate, professional, perspective than Henderson; he's the best in the business; when he's done, he'll have been the best on the Gulf Coast; where else in the United States are ratings for radio and television in the same market identical on Fall Sunday afternoons...

9thWardDesire 02-11-2011 02:23 AM

Willie Roaf, Sam Mills, Tom Dempsey, Morten Andersen.......

No disrespect, but speak for yourself as far as most beloved. In all honesty, I can't stand Archie Manning and I know I'm in the minority on this, but I have my reasons. And before some schmuck comes along and says "you aren't a true Saints' fan. You're a douchebag. Move to Atlanta.", I will say that I have absolutely no ties to Archie as far as my fanhood for the Saints goes. I have said on here many times that I was a Steelers fan when I was a kid, because I wasn't even aware that Louisiana had a football team. I was much more the baseball fan and only a casual football fan. However, I started watching the Saints in 1986 and have been a fan ever since. That doesn't mean that I automatically loved Archie. I've explained my reasons a while back in a previous thread on why I dislike Archie and won't rehash those opinions again. I just know that I'm not in that number of people that love Archie or even like for that matter.

HAHA! You don't want me to say how I really feel about Archie. I would probably be banned for life. :p

saintsfan1976 02-11-2011 08:39 AM

There's a forum for that. Some people may share your opinion...
