What do you think will happen?

I would have to say that I really think they'll come to an agreement. I just think both sides are too greedy to let any money go to waste.

RailBoss 02-12-2011 10:08 AM

Agree it's all about the money on both sides. We all saw SP's new house you don't get that from working at Home Depot.

papz 02-12-2011 10:50 AM

I didn't think there was going to be one but after I read some of the proposals, I'm sort of swaying towards a yes. It's still a long offseason.

What's Fourcade doing these days?

QBREES9 02-12-2011 09:27 PM

I'll bet they'll get it done.

Owners will lockout if that's what it takes; union needs to be broken; rookie wage scale must be put into effect; most people who own a business know that if employees are taking in more than 45% of the take and have no risk, that's a bad deal...

Tagliabue was an awful lawyer; probably a socialist...

RailBoss 02-12-2011 11:52 PM

Fourcade was coaching The Rio Grande Valley Magic of the Southern Indoor Football League but they just hired a new coach. He was also a NFL football analyst for WDSU (NBC) New Orleans.

My money is on a lockout. My gut feeling as summer approaches a deal will be struck. That will mean no free agents signing until then, could be a very interesting rush of action going into training camp. I just don't see for the life of me the season being jeopardized in anyway. Too much money at stake for both sides.

Srgt. Hulka 02-13-2011 07:53 AM

I think they'll come to an agreement. Like others have posted here...too much money at stake. We used to talk millions of dollars, now we're talking BILLIONS of dollars someone's going to cry uncle.

According to Cardinals kicker Jay Feely, Panthers owner Jerry Richardson was dismissive and condescending when speaking to Drew Brees and Peyton Manning in a CBA negotiating session last Saturday.

Speaking on Michael Kay's radio show in New York, Feelys says Richardson said "do I need to help you read a revenue chart son?" when talking to Manning, before adding "do I need to help break that down for you because I don’t know if you know how to read that?" If the owners are treating even the league's most visible and respected players this poorly, there's no telling how bad things might get this offseason.

That sounds bad, but the owners are mad. I think the owners will get everything they want and the NFLPA will take what it can get.

Getting fat, and I'm not talking about his pocketbook. He could probably play nose tackle now. Good thing we need some help there. Suit him up.

SapperSaint 02-14-2011 10:50 AM

Lock out is gonna happen. I do think this will get resolved, but the Players are not going to get what they want. The owners have nothing to lose and all the money to gain. They hold all the cards right now.

papz 02-14-2011 12:16 PM

I agree. The read somewhere that the owners already set aside a large chunk of money in case there was a lockout... they'll be just fine. The people that are going to be affected the most are the average and fringe NFL players... which makes up the majority of NFL rosters.

Love it! hahahaha....

Boy he really lit it up for a while, huh, LB?
I completely ENJOYED replacement games.
All those hungry guys busting their butts, and most of them really were
talented, and some of them stuck.

Maybe we better start running and lifting weights again, LB. practice at my house?

B_Dub_Saint 02-18-2011 11:36 AM

They will wait until the last minute and then decide to have the season. Im guessing.

xan 02-18-2011 02:13 PM

Not sure that the players get how committed the owners are to a richer deal. They have insurance against the work stoppage and they get paid for tv rights whether or not there's a season. Highly likely that there'll be scabs before the owners give an inch.

Saintswrath 02-21-2011 12:01 PM

There will be a lock out.. Yes i my vote..
I don't see anything that has changed my mind or pursuded me to think otherwise, the owner, players and commissioner's aren't coming to any peace agreements anytime soon, the player's dont want a longer schedule AND they want more money, the owner's want a longer schedule AND more money, the league wants a bigger piece of the pie from everyone and want that expanded schedule..
Only way this is going to work out quickly is if most teams go after more Rookies to change the pay scales. It's a lot easier to give younger's a few million less than they would make if they get in later than in the past.

SaintsBro 02-23-2011 10:55 AM

I think it is very possible that they are currently working on TWO deals; one is the real deal, the real negotiations which they are trying to get done; and then they might also have some other back-channel people putting together a second deal, a stop-gap, last-minute "Okay, let's just do this deal that's made up of only stuff we can all agree on, for one more year, and we'll keep talking" type of thing. So that if they can't get the MAIN deal done, they will slap the second one down and sign it at the stroke of midnight, the last possible minute before the deadline. It would be like status quo extension, with a few new concessions from both sides, not a major solution or overhaul of the system. But they'd keep playing another season.
