Would they?

Rather than giving us absoultely nothing, if the lockout is as real as reports say it is will the owners give us some Shane Falco's !!!!!!! ( Replacement players if you don't remember the movie) And if so will you watch?

skymike 02-16-2011 05:40 AM

Great idea. I watched the last scab teams in 87, and they were great. Thats where we got Fourcade. Its just like the USFL and the AFL. They were supposed to be inferior, but when the strike was over, each team found a new star. The Oilers found a previously overlooked LB named Eugene Seale. As a result, the strike lasted only 3 weeks, and the real players got back to work fast.

I'd watch it. Think it could be really interesting to see.

Luda34 02-16-2011 06:28 AM

When September come around I would watch any football strike teams or the real players. I will be so desperate I will get a bottle of Hennessy and a lawn chair and watch a pee wee game.

lynwood 02-16-2011 07:20 AM

I can watch almost any football regardless of where the players come from.

As long as there's a Fleur de Lis, I'm cheering.

No they won't... They can't...

It defeats the very purpose of a lock out.

If the Players strike then yes they could go get scabs and try and play... the if it is a lock out that means they are stopping the league until they get a deal worked out that they can live with.

LOCK OUT - MEANS THERE IS NO FOOTBALL.

Crusader 02-16-2011 03:43 PM

Don't forget there is UFL | United Football League Team Scores, Game Tickets, Videos & News now too. I bet they are hoping for a long lock out to draw some crowds to their games instead.

Unions are exactly what's wrong with this entire country right now. THERE, I said it!

-Without Unions, there are still entrepreneurs and workers.
-Without Workers... well, there will always be someone willing to work, so that's out.
-Without Entrepreneurs, there are no workers or Unions.

When a player comes out of college, and he's good enough, he enters the NFL draft. NFL basically gives him access to an established league complete with teams and fans and, and, nothing more. (The potential player hopes to join the League, not the League hopes to join the player.)

A team likes the way he plays and offers the player a chance to utilize his talent for money. Lots of it. (The player joins the team, for a fee, the team does not join the player.)

In steps the Union to take money from the player and convinces the player that they know more about what he needs and wants and should bargain on his behalf. For a fee... Now the player has his own wits and talents, an Agent, and a Union.

Oh, and the Union fights tooth-and-nail with the very League that extended an offer to play to the player! Again, on his behalf... HUH?

He could have taken his P.E. Degree and become a P.E. Teacher, but no... He now makes millions and signs autographs in exchange for colliding with other players and trying to get a stupid egg-shaped orb across a line. Or maybe he tries to prevent the orb from getting to the line.

I hate UNIONS!!!!

Now if the UNION just went out and bought a football team, we wouldn't be having this problem!!!

Labor UNIONS and SQL UNIONS are both bad. You non-techies will have to trust me on this one.

CheramieIII 02-16-2011 06:05 PM

I'd watch. Maybe the other league will take off.

skymike 02-16-2011 06:12 PM

You know what? If they lockout, we should just have a big ass party around the Dome anyway, with an On-Strike (but not serious) picket theme. Everybody dress just like we were having a game, and do all the gameday type stuff. If a large, game-sized crowd showed up, it would create a sense of awe at our strength and unity. It would also help support businesses, which would suffer from no Saints games, and it would just be a good excuse to party.

SapperSaint 02-17-2011 03:37 PM

great idea Mike. If this happens I'm there!

skymike 02-17-2011 04:11 PM

yeah... if any teams fans are crazy enough to do something like that its gotta be us.

But they are locking the Players out right? Scabs wouldn't be members of the PA would they? if not then why couldnt' they play?

Si, Se Puede.
(I dont know the Spanish word for "they")

Saint_LB 02-18-2011 08:37 AM

I think Euph's right. Lockout means no NFL.

Also, I don't know why you'd want to go to the Dome and dress up like there's gonna be a game and such, Mike. Might as well paint signs saying "You can drag us through crap, smear it in our face...we'll still support ya!"

Euphoria 02-18-2011 11:10 AM

Of course I am right. I am always right 99.9 % of the time. LOL.
I know a little bit of this stuff... enough to be dangerous. Plus there was even an interview with lawyers involved not long ago I heard.

There is a big difference from the last strike that you guys may recall happened last time. That was the Union on strike and basically not showing up for work. To show the company you can't produce without us so meet our demands. Company may try and hire workers to keep production going in the mean time until a deal is worked out to show the Union fine we'll hire someone else mentality. That is a tactic used by unions.

Companies, however lock out the workers and stop what ever production they do. Which is what is happening this time. You don't get football and none of the workers can make money until you agree to our terms. Hince nothing could stop a player from showing up to work if he is under contract to play for a team and say oh I am hurt I'll just stand here on the sidelines and collect his check.

So it doesn't serve the NFL any good by Locking out players and then play games... that doesn't make any sense. Who ever is trying to win or get a deal more suited for them needs to do what they can to STOP production. Either the players strike and don't show up or the NFL puts a lock on the doors.
