Panthers December Collapse?

I said a while back that I thought we had a CHANCE at winning the division still. Right now the odds are not in our favor. One thing for sure is that we need to win the rest of our games just to make the playoffs. If we do win out, there is an outside chance we can win the division IF Carloinal losses 3-of their last 4 games. Looking at the Panther's schedule, it doesn't look like that will happen but the Panthers have lost 3 of their last 5-games. I think Atlanta WILL beat the Panthers this Sunday. Mike Vick killed the Panhers last year and I think he will beat them Sunday.

One of the last 5-games the Panthers lost was : @ Houston 1:00 p.m. L 10 - 14. They have also been very fortunate to have a lot of these wins:

Jacksonville 1:00 p.m. W 24 - 23
Washington 1:00 p.m. W 20 - 17
@ Tampa Bay 4:05 p.m. W 12 - 9
New Orleans 1:00 p.m. W 19 - 13
@ New Orleans 1:00 p.m. W 23 - 20

I won't go betting that the Panthers will have a December collapse like the Saints have done, but they are not playing well as of late and are beatable on any given Sunday. Here's their remaining schedule. I think Atlanta and Giants have a VERY GOOD shot at beating the Panthers. If Detroit or Arizona can pull the upset, we could win the division. Dreaming? Yes, but stranger things have happend.

@ Atlanta.
@ Arizona 4:15 p.m.
Detroit 1:00 p.m. @ NY Giants
@ NY Giants

The Panthers know how tough Vick can be when he's healthy. Last season, he led Atlanta to 30-0 and 41-0 wins over Carolina, rushing for a total of 111 yards and a touchdown on 11 rushes in the two games. He threw for 450 combined yards and two touchdowns on 35 of 46 passing

Amen.

These guys are barely beating (and even losing to) teams with losing records. I think Carolina\'s loss to the Cowboys was extremely telling. The running game was not enough against a team with a legitimate defense.

Carolina will probably still win the division, but each new game I see them play, I find it harder to believe that they\'ll win a playoff game.

I tend to agree with you about the Atlanta game, too. If Vick\'s worth a cent, he\'ll show out this weekend and give the fans(?) in Hotlanta something to hope for next year.

Carolina might stumble, but I doubt that they\'ll collapse. Dallas is in the same boat. Seattle may be as well. The team that is already in a tailspin and may just crash and burn completely is Minnesota. The Vikes are in trouble. They are 1-5 in their last six and their remaining schedule puts them home against Seattle, away and outside in December against a tough and physical Bears team, home on turf against Kansas City, and then @ Arizona. They could lose three of those easily.
