Something to Ponder: RB Taken in when Saints already had a top RB pick..

Saints top RB pick of the century (2000-present) Deuce McAllister (1st round, 2001). The Saints already had Ricky Williams and surprised many people by taking McAllister. Williams was traded away and McAllister only became the team's all-time leading rusher, TD scorer and eternal fan favorite.

History repeats it's self under our noses?

I was much younger, and didn't understand that pick at the time. In retrospect, I think management knew they effed up with Ricky. His heart just wasn't in football, especially Saints football. I'm assuming you're using Reggie as your new first round reference, and while breeding competition on the team is good, there is no way we go RB first round. Please don't let us go RB first round.

Hey. crazier things have happened with this club, who knew we'd witness receiving a QB with a broken arm and no real time table to heal up and suddenly become the most Elite, Legendary QB of our Generation right on our team, On top of that after one of America's worst catastrophic storms in it's history and no real time table of rebuilding or hope that the city would ever recover?

They seldom used Deuce his first season as a RB. I know Ricky was the starter but I was hoping to see more of a dual threat. That bothered me the whole season, having a great RB returning kicks.

The Ricky Williams draft day trade was arguably the worst move in Saints history. Ditka set this franchise back 5 years when he made that terrible trade. He will forever be a putz in my mind for that reason.

Imagine being Ricky Williams and the hype surrounding his selection - their ONLY selection, a KID we gave an entire draft away for. Imagine the pressure. I know he had his own issues, but damn man - what a lot to carry.

I don't care what Ditka accomplished in Chicago - heck, even I could have coached the 85 Bears to a Superbowl... He's an idiot.

Ditka and Hasslet were bad coaches if you look at some of the picks they made they were really bad picks.

Loomis was in those picks too...

I was looking for the WR I believe Ditka drafted or signed later that had animal parts in his refurbished knees...I'm not kidding. Once I read that I knew it was going to be a long season.

Most Definitely WORSE!

I know Ditka had a horrible win-loss record, but I do not think he set the franchise back at all. He did well at building the front lines up, got a great running back, but unfortunately never found the QB to get it done. The year after he was fired the Saints actually did something, like win a playoff game. The reason is Jeff Blake was decent and Aaron Brooks did a nice job too. All it took was decent play at the QB position and the tables turned. I believe if Ditka would have found a decent QB, the Saints would have been champions much sooner, and perhaps still coaching the team.
