No I really haven't been. Live in Texas, have to watch a lot of A&M games. The guy is a sick nasty pass rusher from his OLB spot, but is not a well-rounded linebacker. He looks uninterested when he's not able to rush the passer, and there were games where he'd completely disappear. I guess if you wanted to use a top three pick on a specialist, he'd be a fantastic pick. But for me, if I was going to use a top three pick on a linebacker, I'd want a guy who could do it all, not just rush the passer. I could be wrong, just seen him quite a few times and don't think he's the quality of a guy like DaMarcus Ware, and that's the role he'll be asked to play.
And I'm not just pulling this out of my ass. A lot of people feel the same way.
CBS: Overall instincts for the position, particularly containment and run responsibility and reaction, are questionable since he is primarily used in a "sic 'em" role. Improving against the run, but must be more consistent to become an elite all-around player. Teams take advantage of his continual edge rushing to get a running lane outside. Overruns plays with aggressive angles and a lack of focus on the ball.
ESPN: Plays with a very high motor when feeling involved in play but can does show some inconsistency with effort when chasing in pursuit. Can be engulfed by bigger OT's when caught in a phone booth situation.
Sporting News: Isn’t as effective when he has to take on and defeat offensive-line blocks.
