Loomis on the prospect of drafting Ingram

Saints GM Mickey Loomis said Tuesday that his front office would "have that conversation" if Alabama RB Mark Ingram drops to No. 24 overall.

Ingram is the No. 1 running back on the Saints' draft board, though Loomis also admitted that "the front seven on defense and helping the pass rush" is the team's biggest need area. Loomis might give the Patriots cause for pause with Ingram, though we're skeptical that he'd pull the trigger on a back in the first round.

Neaux, Neaux, Neaux...

Round 1 picks should never be used on a RB that, at best, have a 7-8 year shelf life on'em...

I disagree.

Bad example
Reggie - 2nd ($$$$$)
Deuce - 23rd ($$)

6,000 yards and 49 touchdowns... despite his injuries, well worth his first round status. Numbers alone don't justify what Deuce meant for us as a franchise.

Good point, however...

4 very productive years is still better than our other 1st round picks this century... Williams, Sullivan, Stallworth, Grant, Brown, Bush and Meachem.

If we get 6-8 productive years out of Ingram then we freaking stole him at pick 24.
