What is great about our 2 picks today

They both have GREAT pedigrees.

Both come from Fathers who were great players in the NFL.

I think that is a big plus, you have someone who has been there and done it looking over your shoulder and encouraging you and also the DNA.

We got 2 players that are going to be around and stay our of trouble. Now if we can get Heyward... lol.

Unless the Steelers are willing to trade the rights to him, then that ain't happening.

LOL see after the 28th pick I was out of my mind and didn't even see the last picks.

It was an emotional night for Ingram and Heyward, that's for sure. Ingram cried after hearing the e-mail his dad sent. When Heyward was picked, he had tears streaming down his face. You know he wanted big "Ironhead" to be there for that.

What else is great about our 2 picks, we only traded two picks for quality players. Atlanta pulled a Ditka move by trading away almost their entire draft for Julio freaking Jones. Awesome!

Good Point Euphoria!I'll admit,I didn't know squat about Cameron Jordan.I went checked out some game footage, and also found a couple of interviews with him.He definately came off as a bright individual with a will to win.He spoke about his upbringing and how he had to work @ being good, which is a good thing; being it wasn't a cakewalk and he had to fight to get where he wanted to be.

The trade to acquire Mark Ingram flat out shocked the piss out of me!This guy is gonna be a special player for us.I dreaded facing him as a Tiger fan never knowing when he was gonna get going.I knew what he brought to the table with his physical abilities, but didn't know his character away from the gridiron.I listened to his interview with Deke and Bobby after he was locked in as a Saint, to then realize his professionalism.I'll have an Ingram Jersey real soon! What a great day to be a WHO-DAT!!!!!!!!!

Its obvious that ML looks at character. Notice how we almost never have players in trouble during the business season? We are one of the least talked about teams during this time, year in and year out simply b/c
no ones out there acting a fool.

Good point Euph. I'm already imagining the fathers roaming our sidelines before big games and getting the energy up. Remember that Payton is an excellent motivator.

Payton and Loomis are truly turning New Orleans into a PROFESSIONAL organization on many levels.

First rounders that are starting after four years is about 75%. Second rounders drop down to around 50%. Rounds below that drop off substantially.(according to the article I read recently) Both of our firsts have tremendous upside and are immediate impact players.
So with our two third round players we just have to hope that they are the players that can produce from their draft class. We evaluate mid round talent pretty well and I have high hopes for two third rounders. GW will coach these guys up and find the best way to utilize them.
