John CLay

Yea... yeah .. we got Ingram, in case you haven't heard and have been under a rock... but should we consider this UDFA also?

Of course, leave no stone unturned!

jcp026 05-06-2011 05:55 PM

Why not?

Saintsfan4ever 05-06-2011 07:44 PM

oh man, if we called another running back that would push Reggie over the edge. He'd be turning in his jersey the next day.

ClintSaints 05-06-2011 09:47 PM

According to wikipedia, John Clay is currently 6'1" 255, which is exactly the same height and weight as Ovie Mughelli of the Falcons. Clay could be a real powerful fullback for us.

I think Ingram will be good but remember when we got PT, that same year we drafted Somebody Whatshisface in the 4th round.

Antonio Pittman lol

So glad PT beat that guy for the RB spot, PT's awesome

GeauxForMore 05-07-2011 08:15 AM

Is Antonio Pittman still in the leauge? I remember when we drafted him. I thought he was going to be good for us. Guess I was wrong.

Clay ran a ridiculously slow 40-yard dash in the range of 4.9 at the combine, but improved that time considerably to the mid-4.7's just 10 days or so later at the Badgers pro day, also adding 4½ inches to his vertical jump. But the damage to his draft prospects was likely already done, and McCartney began to slowly prepare his client for the possibility of not being drafted in the one year you positively didn't want to go the collegiate free agent route.

03/22/2011 - NFL Draft Scout Faller: John Clay, RB, Wisconsin: Clay did improve his terrible 4.83 Combine-best 40-yard dash time at his pro day (4.72), but did not make a great impression as a receiver or show enough quickness for a team to feel he was a value pick him in the late rounds. - Chad Reuter, NFLDraftScout.com
Looks like he might just be too slow for a RB and maybe too inexperienced as a FB.

ClintSaints 05-07-2011 10:26 AM

Correction: I think John Clay is actually 230 pounds, not 255. Wikipedia lists two different weights for him. In any case, it's important to keep in mind that both LaGarrette Blount and Arian Foster were only able to muster a 4.7 for their 40-yard dashes. Speed is not the only thing to take into consideration.

True, but tell that to all the posters who insisted Ingram was slow because of his 4.6 combine time.

Never leave the wrong turn unstoned!

I'm wondering how Hamilton(who I like) is even going to have a chance on the team. There was also another kid at TC last year that looked before he got hurt.....still I like leaving no stone unturned.

st thomas 05-08-2011 08:50 PM

i say bring him in and let the hair go with the hide. if theres a training camp, most antsipated since behind the bush pick?

QBREES9 05-08-2011 10:08 PM

bring in Jordan todman From UConn ............... Or did he get drafted.

Seer1 05-10-2011 07:01 AM

I dunno. I think I'd rather seem them focus on the D side of the stone.

Luda34 05-10-2011 07:41 AM

I won't mind having this guy on the team but I think we have a enough RB for the start of camp and I believe some other team will be calling him as soon as the lockout is lifted.
