The 'A' teams: These four worked draft better than peers

New Orleans Saints: A
Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis cleverly manipulated the draft board to land a stellar class that is rich in talent, athleticism and versatility. Cam Jordan and Martez Wilson bring some sizzle to the defense, and the addition of Johnny Patrick in the third round is an underrated steal. Mark Ingram gives the team a rugged workhorse with the ability to anchor their ground game. The trade to get him could pay significant dividends when the Saints take a shot at the division crown this year.

Johnny Patrick pick his a head scratcher unless they are converting him to safety ala Malcolm Jenkins. Harper will be a tough contract to fit under the cap, I think his days are numbered. He might have sealed his fate in Seattle.

agreed, harper should've been cut after sam bradford sucked him up, i think the johnny patrick pick just says jenkins is moving to safety

I think the Patrick pick is due to two things

Insurance - you can never have too many DB's on your roster

Grooming him into a nickel CB - Randall gay and Leigh Torrance aren't the youngest or most dominant nickel CB's, pat Robinson is still the starter at that position, but ive heard that johnny Patrick is great on special teams coverage and is a pretty good kick returner aswell, this pick is pretty solid if you ask me.

I dunno, I think 37 of them might be too many, and 53 would absolutely be way too many.

That's over half the roster isn't it?;)

Always good to have youth at the CB position. If he develops nicely he could be the nickle guy for a long time. I think Greer will be with the Saints 1-2 more years and then we'll see Robinson and Porter as the starters.
