Can anyone else feel it?

I don't know if this is just excitement on my part from the draft, but i've just been randomnly watching these highlights from possibly the best RB in saints history, and i just had a thought.....

Whens the last time the Saints had someone that could tote the rock like Deuce could, 20-25 carries a game, smash straight through a middle backer and stay on his feet, close out games by running the clock down, getting first down after first down and just show the overall toughness and heart that Deuce showed on every single play.
(btw not questioning Pierre or Ivory's heart, there the guys that come to play every single snap)

But now it looks like we have that guy in Mark Ingram, i'm real excited to see what damage he can do. He's drew comparisons to emmitt smith, thats some high praise.

Now i know that there were high expectations for Bush when he came out, but everyone can honestly see that Mark Ingram is a more dominant and straight line runner than bush, i don't wanna crown him already, but i think Ingram will be the starter by midseason.

Let me know what ya'll think!!

I'm with you. I haven't been this excited about getting a RB since Deuce.

I too smell a TwoDat!

I think he will be a perfect fit for us is all. More than any other team he'll be more successful in our game plans.

He won't be asked to carry the ball 25-30 times a game with our RB by committee master plan. His career may be extended because of that. So essentially he is filling a role sort of what Bell did for us until he wore the wrong damn cleats!

Long gone are the feature backs!

Nice no crown there, except we can see the crown and septer set you hiding behind your back. Hold off on the highest of high praises until the guy gets a playbook and a camp in!

The expectations of Reggie were differnet than what we are expecting from Mark. Reggie was suppose to be this "Greatest player ever to touch a football" type of hype. While Mark is expected to be our runningback.

I don't expect Mark to bust out with a 1500 yrd year and lead in running TD's. I am expecting him to get the first down when we need it, get the 2 yrd TD's and help burn the clock in the 4th quarter.

I like Ingram, I really do, and I'm excited...

...but...

Deuce is probably my all time favorite Saints Player, and while I'm willing to allow Ingram into the club, he's gonna have to prove it. I'm hoping he's a Deuce/Emmit hybrid.

Depending on if there is a training camp either PT or Ingram could go into the season as the number one running back. In Sean Paytons offense there really isn't a starter at RB because of the various formations and plays. PT will probably be able to stay healthy with fewer touches he may become even more explosive. I love to watch PT run the screen. Everyone is going to get their touches and will need to make the most of them.

Personally, I think we're selling Ivory a lil short. First, this kid was on the PS, just trying to stay with the team and just starting to get his body into NFL shape and working on his endurance.

As the year went on, you could see him starting to feel a part of the team, yet because of hitting the wall with his conditioning and strength training he got hurt a little too much. Some say he was always hurt in college etc. as to why no one outside of the coaching staff wants to trust that he will get himself in shape and take care of his body the way he needs to in order to sustain himself through a 16 game season.

Ivory is still in the learning phase of his development on this team and I think we need to just relax a little bit with injury prone tags we put on these kids. Ivory will get comfortable with his blitz pickups and with the screen passes and hot routes etc. more this year and I think he has more raw talent than any back on the team. He's got the size, power, moves, toughness, and speed to really be something else. Look at what he did with limited carries and games last year. You can't get hurt every year unless you're Reggie but it's got to equal out soon, and when it does this kid is gonna be lightning in a bottle.

Ivory was never on the practice squad.
