HORN, STALLWORTH, PAYTHON -- DROP THE BALL

I think one of the biggest disappointments has been our receiving corp. This unit was supposed to be one of the top 5-units in the league. Right now I would put them in the lower half of the entire league.

Joe Horn which is our number one receiver has had a bad year. He might play with fire and emotion, and even play through injury, but he has been disappointing. Maybe part of the reason for his inconsistant play has been the injuries, but he still has not delivered.

Donte Stallworth -- Hard to evaluate a guy when he's not on the field. You can write him of as a total loss for the 2003 season.

Jerome Paython is a possession receiver who has had his share of dropped passes this year, along with the rest of the unit. He seems to disappear in most of the games. He has had a very quite season.

Michael Lewis -- This is our #4 receiver and he's actually played well for the number 4. He's been injuried a lot himself though. But, he's probably been the most consistant when the ball is actually thrown his way.

A unit that was supposed to be loaded with talent has yet to show it this year.

NOTE: This is not about Aaron Brooks. This is about our RECEIVERS.

That might go on my sig. as well, Joe. Now, you wouldn\'t be suggesting I\'m trying to take some blame off Brooks now would ya?

I\'m really not. I\'m disappointed in these guys too.

Just to put this in perspective --

Joe Horn NO 67 801 12.0 6 42 -- Ranks #16 in the league.

NFL.com has no stats past number 30. Sadly we had no other receivers in the top 30. I was surprised to see how many receivers were on this list ahead of ours.

There is no doubt Billy the recivers have not lived up to expectations. The most disapointing element of it is an area thought to be solid now will have to be addressed in the draft or free agancy. Gardner and Derrick Lewis showed little as well and are not ready to be counted on. Paython may have to finish strong to be back next year, a real shame because he is a hell of a guy. One can only hope Stallworthless rebounds big time next year.
