"Take it to the House" Henderson

Saints fans favorite wipping post, but before you guys start saying that all he does is drop passes, consider Coltson has way more drop passes.

Henderson is used as a decoy on most plays.
His blocking is above average for a WR.
His speed is world class and he catched the deep ball best.
2010 was an off year for Devery. Usually one in every 7 passes results in a TD.
With the addition of Ingram, Devey's roll will be more inportant than ever.

With Meachem, Coltson, Henderson & Graham, we once again dare you to put 8 in the box.

We'd miss him more that you might think.

I think he gets an unfair shake when it comes to our fanbase. I just wanted to point out that on numerous occasions this season, Drew completely missed Devery either underthrowing or going to the wrong receiver. Those 464 yards could have easily been 764 yards imo. Regardless... whether he's being thrown to or catches the ball or not, he plays a key part in our offense stretching the field. In my opinion, he's a bigger "decoy" than Bush is.

I also wanted to say in defense of Colston, some of the adjustments he has to make on Drew's ball are ridiculous... not to mention as soon as he catches balls over the middle, he's clobbered by two guys. Drew has a tendancy to lead him into some dangerous situations... which contribute to his dropped balls.

Track periods when Colston dropped passes and the majority have been when he had the hand injury.

Exactly... As awesome as Brees is, he frequently underthrows/overthrows a wide open Devery, and Meachem as well.

That's it... Put in Daniels. :brood:

Devery gets a lot of heat, but anybody who watched the 2009 season knows that he was a major part of why we won the Super Bowl. He had some huge catches that year.

skymike 05-31-2011 07:04 AM

Devery is a real threat, and would be #1 on a lot of teams. People get things stuck in their heads, without knowing the actual stats.

The main thing about Devery, is that you shouldnt throw directly to him sometimes. If you want 100% insurance he will catch the ball, throw it behind him between 2 defenders, as he is falling backwards upside down in a twisted pile being hit. He's made some krrazy catches he shouldnt have.

Oh my bad.

He doesn't overthrow/underthrow any deep passes?

probabaly not in the last 2 or 3 years, no. mostly, he sits on a porch swing and looks at his cows, while his money compounds interest. although he could have been our 3rd string QB last year, and we'd have never known the difference.

plus, devery's one of the most humble players you'll ever see in the nfl, especially for a wr

SmashMouth 05-31-2011 01:04 PM

our three wides ... Torchman Devery, Fast Eddie Meachem, Steady Colston, Beastie Graham at TE, Our New Man Mark Emmitt Jr., Breesus taking the snap, and the OLine .... I feel opposing defenses already quaking in their cleats while we're on our way to TWODAT!

Devery hasn't had this much love since his momma held him as a baby.

I'm one of the people on the fence when it comes to Henderson. I could easily get him confused with that Meachem fella'. To me they both do about the same thing.

darstep 06-01-2011 01:06 PM

Devery's OK, but both he and Meachem catch waaaaaaaay too many passes using their wrists and the arm trap technique - not dependable at all, especially in traffic. That's why we saw so many drops. For a while even Colston digressed and was looking for membership in that club. I agree with RugbySaintII, Henderson and Meachem bring the same thing to the table.

skymike 06-02-2011 06:38 AM

Actually, I think they're ALL badass.

I got a kind of a funny story for y'all.
I went to the Superbowl, on may way back I was in the Salt lake airport. Showing off my SB hat. I'm waiting for my luggage, and this good looking chick walks up to me. SHE'S hammered, holding on to me she asks who I thought the MVP for the game was. I said Drew.. She looks at me like i'm crazy then say "DEVERY MOTHER ****ing HENDERSON". Now I'm shocked, I asked did you go to LSU or something? She said no, then meet up with her friend and walked off. Then later on the bus to get to my truck from the extend parking. She started to pipe off about him again, chanting his name, everyone on the bus is looking at her like a deer in the headlights.
Anyway she didn't go to the game or was a fan. But she sure in the hell knew who he was.?.
I always liked DH. and can't wait to see him explode this year again!
This is for you my drunk hot chick! "DEVERY MOTHER ****ing HENDERSON"

Sorry, I missed it.

Devery rarely if ever lines up in the slot, so I don't really understand the joke.

What am I missing?

I agree some of Drews passes were off the mark and under thrown
