I couldn\'t believe the reaction from the commentators. They\'re saying Horn should lose the Pro Bowl because of that? Please. While I love it when the Saints play on ESPN because I can actually watch the games here in Tennessee, I hate it because I absolutely despise Joe Theismann. For some reason, he just has it in for us.

Although I am not a Theisman fan myself,....he was giving Brooks some praise \"Pro-Bowl numbers\" I know it wont happen, but he wasn\'t too far off.

If you heard his remarks after the game to ESPN, it doesn\'t sound so bad. He said he knew his kids and his mom were watching at home and said that if he scored he\'d break out the cell phone. He knew he\'d get fined ten to fifteen thousand dollars, but said that they were worth it. I don\'t think it was classless at all.

I think \"classless\" is a little strong. He broke a rule and that\'s about all it was to it. The lambeau leap is perfectly accecptable but it\'s excessive I think. What about the dancing? What about all the other things?

My impression of a football player is Deuce.

Guys like Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, etc.
Just get the job done, act like you\'ve been there before. All the dancing, acting and over the top antics annoy me.

I\'m sure Joe is in for a definate cell phone commercial. I think that is just the stigma of the NFL wide receiver. As for Deuce, he definately epitomizes how the professional athlete should act. He gets the job done and doesn\'t feel the need to be all flashy. However, I wasn\'t too impressed with ESPN\'s intro to the game with Deuce. That just isn\'t his style.

You know, Horn was pretty over-the-top with his stunt.

But the real \"Man bites Dog\" story from tonight was Aaron Brooks had a 74% completion rate, only put the ball on the ground once and only threw the ball to the guys wearing black and gold.

He had a huge game that we might be able to parlay into a trade with San Diego.

Horn\'s going to make the highlight reel, get a big fine and some phone company is going to rip off his stunt without using Joe and Joe\'s going to be, \"Why am I giving the folks at Cingular all this free advertising?\"

Classless is Hasletts comment last season about the fans being at fault for the season ending loses .

Classless is Sapps comparison to the N.F.L. as a slave master .

Horn pulling a phone was a new twist in the N.F.L , one that lead off the ESPN segment directly after the game . Horn will be entrenched in N.F.L. history for that moment and thats why he did it on ESPN , seemed to me rather amusing especially since ESPN is the network running the series Playmakers that depicts those players as crack addicts .

I agree with both of these...
But Horn\'s act was still WWF material and doesn\'t belong on the field. I\'m sorry for the sport if people think it does because that is what is degrading this league.

I liked what Bernie Mac said last week. \"You don\'t coaching in this league anymore, you babysit.\" Pretty much sums up the maturity of quite a few players in this league.

I don\'t mind a little dance in the endzone or a little celebration, but when you start pulling cell phones and sharpies out, then I think it does degrade the game. The NFL can put an end to that quickly, if they make the fine stiff enough.

By the way Billy, your boy Brooks had another one of his stellar performances that leave us wondering who that guy is that shows up on the next weekend. Great game. It could have easily turned around before the half, but we got lucky.

Lucky? I saw no luck. The receivers actually did something they rarely ever do, which is catch the football. They even made some great catches for a change. It\'s amazing how some good receivers can help a QB out.

I\'ll have to agree with Billy. Our receivers definately stepped up today. Donte showed us the big play ability he can bring. I still think that incompletion at the sideline early in the game was a catch. If only he can stay healthy. And Pathon\'s touchdown was one of the best catches I\'ve seen in awhile.

Most likely any comparison in my mind to the WWF is simply because of the fact it took 3 Saints to find the phone .

I assume this is the same Horn I watched a few weeks back , have to be helped off the field time and time again by fellow teammates after making key acrobatic receptions in a game .

Had he done it at an away game , I might be more inclined to judge . This was done at home in front of his home team fans .

I didn\'t laugh... I love Horn but it wasn\'t funny or original. \"Be original\", and back it up with catching balls not dropping them all season. Maybe the monkey is off his back now but when it looks like a ass kicking don\'t humiliate them more. If it was a close game I\'d say ok but be original. It wasn\'t better than the sharpie pen nor did it equal it either.

That explanation actually makes it worse. What annoys me about a celebration like this is you show disrespect for your opponent. The Lambeau Leap may not be an act of spontaneous celebration anymore, it\'s just something you have to do when you score a TD, but getting props ready for after the TD catch - that\'s taking it too far. It basically says: You suck so bad I KNEW I was going to score on you. And Joe even goes one up on this and says that he would call his kids after the SECOND touchdown. Great sportsmanship against a team which has been hit hard by injuries. Who was supposed to cover him on that play? A seventh round rookie or something?
Unnecessary, that\'s what I\'d call it.
Some might disagree and say he added some excitement and controversy, but I still believe Marvin Hagler won his last fight against Sugar Ray Leonard. Just not a fan of the overly flashy.

I think it was a classless act on Horns\' part. Is that what you really want to teach kids at every level of play? And don\'t say it doesn\'t effect peewee football because those kids want to emulate everything the big guys do. Not only did he burn his opponent on the play but then let\'s humiliate him on national T.V. Wrong anyway you look at it. And not that it would make it right but where was all theses shannigans against any team we played that was half-way decent? No where because the only humiliation on the field on those days was Horn dropping the damn ball. Show some class please and don\'t degrade the sport any worst than it is.

At first, I wasn\'t onboard with what happened. I hate T. Owens with a passion, but my hate for him goes back, over multiple offenses. As far as Horn is concerned, eh, that was the first time I\'ve seen any swagger out of this team this entire lackluster year. And as far as the opponents are concerned, I could care less if an NFL player is too thin skinned. If it were to happen in college, then yes, I would be pretty pissed off. But to feel sorry for a player that is going to earn more in two years then I will see in my lifetime, not going to see any sympathy from me.

Although I found it funny, I have to side on the \"classless\" side. I\'m basing my comments on what\'s being said up here in New England. The lines are lit up about how the Pats are about TEAM vs. individual achievement. This is pretty much true although they have their troubles with celebrations at times, too.

Up here, they\'re calling for Haslett to sit Horn out next week. They say Parcells would do it. Probably so. I doubt Haslett will.

And Sapp\'s dance is just ... ahm ... bizarre.

Horn would have had something to celebrate if he had caught the pass against Tampa last week! While I disagree with show boating, initially I thought it was funny. And so did the ESPN announcers(go back and listen to the sound track before they started blasting Horn.)

The way Theisman and the other knuckleheads were talking, you would have thought that Horn had punted a baby up into the stands. Crap, people, you want to talk offensive actions, yet you have a team with one of the most racially insensitive names, which happens to be the same team that you represented for so many years, Mr. Theisman. I know the standards I set for the kids who play for me and my own son abides by these rules and \'showboating\' isn\'t one I tolerate. If kids can be held to these standards then, by God, so can professional athletes., I, for one, would appreciate it.
