Lockout could be coming to a end

NFL could be back in business by July 15 - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Now that NFL owners appear to have cleared a significant hurdle on the way to labor peace with the players, the question for the league is simple: How fast can they get the league year started?

The short answer is sometime on or just before July 15. By that point, the league may be reopen for business on a permanent basis, meaning free agents could get signed and draft picks could start to meet with coaches for the first time in hopes of catching up as much as possible by the start of training camp.

“That kind of timeline is altogether possible,” a source on the owners’ side said Tuesday after the owners spent a little less than six hours hearing from Commissioner Roger Goodell about the state of the collective bargaining agreement talks with the players. Just as important, the owners were given a chance to object to the basic concepts put before them. The league went so far as to give the owners an extra day to discuss the negotiations.

We'll see. Still sounds like all speculation.

So the owners have come to an 'intra-agreement' with themselves.

And...

Seriously...and...

???

I'm not holding my breath people. If the plan is a simple one, and if that plan requires the players to disengage themselves from ~ 12% of the 9 billion..well...

At least we'll have the world series in the fall...

You'll have a world series. Im an Astros fan. We'll be testing new minor
leaguers and giving them some playing time.

so who's your team, SF? I wont bandwagon the Rangers, because that would be bandwagoning, but I like seeing them win.

I'm with you Saintfan. I won't belive it till I see it.
July 15? That's exactly 4 weeks before the start of pre-season.
Will there be a training camp? Is four weeks enough time to get into shape and get sharp on your game? Or are we looking at sub-par NFL this year?
I can see a lot of injuries coming. The players will not be in the shape they need to be in.

I grew up a Braves fan because of TBS and an Astros fan because of geography. I've since become a baseball aficionado of a sort.

I'm still down with the Braves and Astros, and even though I'm a purist and believe the designated hitter is an evil plot devised by aliens to ruin America's summer time past time and thus am of the belief that the American League is a lesser brand of baseball, I do appreciate the unique differences it offers from the Manager's perspective anyway (it's harder to manage in the National League).

So anyway, because I lived in Dallas for a decade, I'm a Rangers fan. When I moved there in 1999 they were decent but still not capable of overcoming the stupid Yankees (because the Yankees cheat). They went way down but, as we know, came all the way back and then some. I'd LOVE to see the lowly Rangers win it all.

C'mon Man...

The agreement will come at the last minute on Aug 1st. I have a strong feeling about this.
